TU shooting 53% but with the 28% from three they are shooting 72% on two pointers. Falokun has 8 points and 5 boards in 8 minutes. Those are the stats that jump out at me.

We’re seeing entire line changes as subs.

That's fine for this game, let him see how they work together in games. Maybe another game or two to sort out sub rotations. He should know his go to five by now though and have the mins sorted out mostly by the second game. Maybe we're deep enough to mass sub, but I am skeptical. We're probably 7-8 deep with a couple other people getting minutes

I’m not concerned about it. I think it’ll be 8 on Tuesday. It’s hard to say in an exhibition against an awful opponent.

Joiner does look in better shape. He’s slimmed down, but still strong. He is moving very well, no sign of any loss of speed or quickness.

Thanks. Basketball season is where I'm really going to regret moving away and missing out on seeing them in person

Is Joiner ok? Sounds like a tweaked ankle on the radio but I don’t know when he got hurt, on the foul?

Well, Joiner just tweaked his knee as he was fouled going in for a layup. Hope we didn’t jinx him URedskin 54!

The best players find a way to score.

And always score in little ways, a lay up here, a free throw there, easy put back on a rebound. He gets buckets so many different ways, if he starts really shooting well he will get 20 pts before people even realize it. He scores sneaky, he scores in your face, he hits floaters, drives, outside, on the break, off rebounds, at the free throw line, on inbounds. He just gets the ball in the hole. Jefferies and Scott are going to murder people in cold blood. You won't even realize Scott did you in because you'll be on your heels from Jeffries 3s and dunks.

I like the way we played. Sounds like several of the transfers will fill holes and our returning players added to their game.

I will be cautiously optimistic.

Post game Scott talked about his desire to improve on defense and the work he has put in so he can see more floor time, as well as the conditioning so he can remain effective with the extra minutes. Also talked about how they didn't like the start to last year and being focused on getting going the right way.

Good leadership talk, shows high basketball I.Q., stressing the right things. Might be able to bake multiple cakes with him and Jeffries.

I was there but had to leave at the 10 minute mark due to another commitment. What was the final score?

The biggest things I took away from the game were...

1. Good intensity and effort esp at defensive end.

2. Athleticism of our newcomers.

I am hopeful we can avoid the early season clunkers we have seen in the Haith era.

I think he will pick his drives and be a little more selective than Wheeler,
though. Don't see him going up like a cloud of dust and getting stuffed at
the rim.

:rolleyes:Sometimes, it is hard to remember all of the personas of Wheeler the
player....His first two games as a Jr. were impressive, and then he disappeared
off the screen...As a Sr., he started slowly (even poorly), but come the conf.
schedule, he turned into the player we had hoped for...He rebounded, he
defended, and importantly, he started moving without the ball on offense...That
was a big difference maker for him.....

I am pleased by the reports on both Barnes and Jackson...Apparently two
really good athletes....Neither has a great outside shot, but both contribute
in so many other ways......

I'm ready for Tuesday!!!

And that relates to this year's team How???
Someone mentioning how playing a D2 NSU probably wouldn't show us much or be a good indication of who can/can't play. We lost to a D2 team...this team just beat a fairly similar D2 team by a hefty margin. While I will temper my expectations some, it's a good sign that the team came out and took care of business and probably were able to ID some things they need to work on still. We all know that TU teams under Haith have lost some of those inexplicable early season games that make you go 'WTF!?!?!?". We avoided that with this one. Test 2 is tomorrow. While they may not say how the team will do against upper tier opponents (i.e. Nevada, KState, AAC teams), it will give you a little insight into focus and determination early on.

I think people keep mentioning this because the D2 game you’re thinking of was the day Haith found out his sister went into a coma and he spent the day with his family, so many people, rightfully, give him a pass for not having the team ready.

Granted there was enough talent on that team to not need coaching to beat a D2 team, but I digress.

Sometimes you have to take a step back and realize there is more to life than sports in that type of situation. I was there and witnessed it. Definitely not something to be proud of but I completely understand and don’t hold it against Haith.

Exactly, I personally think Montgomery and Haith are great people with big hearts. I can't believe how some people ( not anybody on here) actually hate someone because their team isn't winning, it sucks that sometimes something like a death takes us to realize how sports are not everything.
