Harrison told the newspaper that Hudspeth broke two clauses in his contract, leading to disciplinary action by the university. The first clause within Hudspeth's contract, Section 10.1.2, says “if the Athletic Director determines in his reasonable discretion that coach Hudspeth has willfully engaged in conduct that is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of Head Football Coach and which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the University or its athletic programs in any material way.”

And according to Section 10.1.8, “Egregious personal conduct that is reasonably determined by the Athletic Director or President to negatively, adversely and materially affect the reputation or operation of the APSU athletics program.”

There was an Austin Peay fan on the /cfb subreddit that posted this rumor the day he got canned. It went something like this:
Hud was supposedly sleeping with the mother of a walk-on player. When the walk-on found out about this, Hud was worried about it getting out so he cut the kid. The team found out about this and was obviously not happy with Hud.

I'm confused by that action. Not cutting him seems to have a better plan. Or a scholarship offer

I don't know. You give him a scholarship and other players ask questions - if the kid wants to continue the blackmail - its playing time or I talk ...

You cut the kid and you can always play the "he's pissed he got cut" card.

I will tell you with certainty - back to his days at Delta State - Hud is one of the worst human beings on the planet. I would have had a difficult decision had he been our coach.

If that’s true, don’t you give the guy a scholarship, or at least a partial to hopefully keep it quiet. You sure as hell don’t cut him and piss him AND the Mom off.

What kind of difficult decision?
You going to quit being a fan bc you don’t like the coach ?

I don't know anything about his personal life, but I never could figure why so many were so high on him to be our head coach.

Which was my point - you damn sure don't cut him. A scholy offer would have been a last effort if blackmail got to that point. But don't cut him whatever you do. That move to me, makes the least bit of sense.

Not a fan - but being supportive of the program at the same level.

His affair with his current wife lead to his first divorce. She is bat **** crazy, but is a fitness instructor. He is just s POS as a human being. I dont care what he does in his life from now on but never want him associated with our University ever again.

Yes, I do believe that is the way it works here.

Hud is not a solid human being. He's got some gawdawful demons in his soul. He needs help.

He might have been a notch above Felker and Croom as a Head Coach at State, but that's about it. And he damn sure would have gone off the deep end eventually, thinking he'd arrived. Glad it didn't happen for him and us.

Another fallen angel that had a lot of vocal supporters when we were looking for a coach.

I didn't know anything on him but the talk from those opposed makes me glad we did not ask him to be coach then and even more now.

I'll admit, I wanted Hud when we got Mullen and I was one that wanted Hud when we got Moorehead. Why? Because he could win games and I believe he would have been several notches above Felker and Croom.....Now, I say that to say this.....I'm SO glad we didn't hire him. Any success we would have gained wouldn't have been worth the embarrassment if he had done something....Can y'all imagine us having to go through the same BS in football with Hud that we went through with Cann in baseball? Would have been about par for the course for us.....

Now saying that, I say this.....I don't know what happened this time around with Hud but I and probably several on here aren't in a position to be a judge of another man. I hope things work out with him and his family (if anything has to be worked out).
