That is the weekend college football will be at its apex for the 150th anniversary of the first college football game between Rutgers and Princeton. Princeton will celebrate with a game Dartmouth at Yankee Stadium. Meanwhile, Rutgers has a BYE WEEK, really? Either Rutgers is asleep at the wheel, or the B1G really hates us.

Times have changed in CFB in the last 150 years. May want to read the CFB sports section more carefully in the future.

Pls don’t take this as a negative response but times have changed.

No entitlement rights for RU FB.

Princeton really had nothing to do with playing at Yankee Stadium. It is Dartmouth's home game and is part of their 250th Anniversary of the college. This was annouced in 2017. That same year Dartmouth played Brown at Fenway Park.

I suspect College Gameday might make an appearance at this game to celebrate Princeton. They might make a mention of Rutgers in passing.

My understanding is that Rutgers asked the Big Ten to not schedule Rutgers that weekend so we could plan our own event.

The timing would be right as that is the time they usually select a FCS game when the SEC is playing the Citadels of the world.

Princeton is promoting this date as part of its celebration of Nov. 6, 1869.

Rutgers hda more than enough time to figure out what to do on this date.

Of course they are. It their closest game to 11/6 and against their biggest current rival.

And yes Rutgers had plenty of time to get something done like scheduling an OOC game at home on 11/9

So we're going to celebrate college football... by not playing college football. That is just so Rutgers.
It makes sense now though. You really think getting blown out and looking lost on the field is a way to celebrate this occasion? Thank God Princeton turned down the game.

This was back in 2012 or 2013, when the Big Ten schedule for 2019 was being put together. I think the idea was to try to schedule a game against Princeton, or Army or Navy, since they're more "historical" opponents for Rutgers.

We completely blew this ....we got the big ten to give us a day open ...and, we could have easily schedule, let’s say, army (one of the oldest rivalries...though 1891 isn’t quite 1869)...who is an independent and could have easily schedule a November game to play us ..and that would have been right up those ally

Lehigh has played Rutgers the most followed by Lafayette than Princeton. IIRC those three are in the 70+x each. Army is near 40 and Navy at 25x

I think it actually makes sense. Based on the current trajectory of this football program, the bye will likely be their best week next year (as vs 2nd best so far in 2018).

The fact that we don't play a game this weekend and basically gave up on a chance to have ESPN CGD should cost multiple people their jobs. How could a HC, AD, Pres and BOGs all be asleep at the wheel to not play a game this weekend???? Incompetence is an understatement.

The only possibility is to move the Michigan game to 11/9 as they also have an opening that day...yay...

Over the last four decades I've come to understand that Rutgers sucks as an organization. This simple fact has downstream ramifications across a wide variety of areas.
We have a friend who worked in Human Resources at some Corporate companies, left to have her baby and raise her for a couple years. Decided to get back into the work force and got a job at Rutgers Human Resource department. She left after 6 months and said it was the most dysfunctional place she's ever worked at. She's back in the Corporate world.

The problem with that is that next year Rutgers plays Michigan in Ann Arbor instead of Piscataway.

Rain leaked into my office today, and the bathrooms in my wing are closed with no firm time of completion. I send e-mail the personnel people about retirement, and hear nothing back for days. Dysfunctional? That's being kind. And I'm at Camden, where the bureaucracy is relatively small.

Why didn't anyone think to schedule Princeton that day? How about an alumni scrimmage at the very least. Get some old time Rutgers legends and have people want to watch RU football again.

It's worth noting that on Nov. 9, 1869, the Princeton endowment was greater than the Rutgers endowment on Nov. 9, 1969, but - to be fair - Princeton still counted the slave holdings of its alumni well into the 1880s in spite of the 13th Amendment.
