Nova getting pounded by Michigan early

So did Michigan.

Exactly. Btw, Nova is the lone Big East team to be ranked. Way early, but fair to say that conference is way down. This is the continuation of a trend that was inevitable. Long-term, basketball-only conferences can't compete with big-time football conferences. As a person who despises everything about the game of football, this saddens me. But there's no denying the reality of where this is headed. Villanova has been holding the bag for the New Big East since it began. A downturn by them and the notion of the BE as a power conference is over.

While what you're suggesting may eventually happen, right now the reality is that Villanova has won 2 of the last 3 titles. They could be down from that and still very good. Also, this is one November regular season game.

Let me correct myself. Marquette is ranked in some polls. Gotta hunch that won't be the case after their game at Indiana.

I get that and am an admirer of what Villanova has accomplished (I live in the Philly area). But in terms of the New Big East, they have been the whole ball of wax. Aside from Villanova, it is already happening.

By the way, here's another score: Duke 46, Eastern Michigan 9. That's "9" as in N-I-N-E.

Notice how Villanova redid their arena and moved the students closer to the floor and the high rollers upstairs. Did it the right way. Hobbs should take notes.

Been a long time since I have seen Villanova this exposed. Michigan is just beating them in all phases. Major reload on the main line that will take time to gel. Not sure they have anywhere near the amount of shooters they have had in recent years.

Let me guess, you're not a "high roller" with seat downstairs that has been making donations and buying tickets in those sections for years when no one else has been supporting the team. Yes, anger the most dedicated fans of the program by yanking their seats to give the 10's of students who show up. Nice plan. Clueless.

The RAC would look silly with 13 people in the lower level. (That was about the student turnout on Sunday)

yes....if we were a duke with constant sellouts and a solid student fan base.....maybe

with RU, it would piss off the people that have bought season tickets for decades, moving them up....and have
empty close up sideline seats that the students are supposed to be in.....

the student section had a very poor attendance for the last game, for example

Wasn't Xavier a top ncaa seed last year too? Again, I don't doubt that what you are suggesting will happen to at least some degree -- one has to imagine that budgets for coaching, recruiting, and facilities upgrades will be smaller in general and that will have some effect over time -- but I think you'll have to look at multiple years of results to reach that conclusion. What happens in this week's games, or even this season, will just be one data point of this analysis.
