Well, I'll have to disagree somewhat sir. True, just as you mention, injuries to key players stings badly to be sure "but" I remember TO's Huskers many times won important games with some of our best players (including qbs) injured.

I think brutal animals on both lines helps a lot. Of course, I know that you know that. But "now" not having anything even remotely close to dominating lines has injuries hurting very badly indeed.
We did but Tom had 20 years and a reputation to be able to maybe recruit a little more depth too. Tom was a once in a lifetime coach and he had over 20 years to hone his craft. Tom got taken to the wood shed a few times early on too. Frost is not that far off from where Tom was after a couple of years as a head coach and Frost doesn't have the benefit of taking over a team that had just won a national championship. Frost will get us there. Gonna take time.

Anybody want to project a 2-deep, next year?

Is there any "hope" this gets better given our current personnel and redshirts?

We need more DE with size and some pass rushing ability. Our OLB are not good. OL recruiting has been ok. Our WR are shrimps.

This doesn't get better until it looks like it is getting better, and frankly, Frost is still in Year 1 with regard to depth. We graduate some DL, who is going to take over there? Where are the OLB?

If I were Frost I'd hit the attrition switch again and just reload until it looks like we have some sort of Fresh/Soph class that can compete. Otherwise, we're screwed.
Although strength of schedule is only a good guess, it appears this year’s is much easier than the next few years. Scary thought that even if we are much better next year, the record may not be. So in answer to your question I think talent and development of that talent could be better but record could be worse.

Look I’m not happy with how this game is, but I still stick with one sentiment, I don’t think we are out coached, we are out talented... Day got lucky he got handed the keys to a brand new lambo, frost got handed the keys to a Ford Fiesta and was told to bring back the lambo.... if you don’t think that’s easier to coach then I’m sorry... I don’t mean to call you out I’m just don’t think this is ALL on frost or the coaches, I think they try to put the kids in a position to be successful and I think playing teams like these in a setting like this is so difficult because OSU has no glaring weaknesses
I agree it is not 100% on the coaches. I think youth and talent factor in a bit. However, there is enough talent to beat CU, to not let South Bama hang in there to not get throttled by Ohio St. Like I said Indiana did as good against Ohio St as us. I don't think they have a 4 star guy on their roster and they are in year 1 of a new coach. While we may not have top talent the job of coach is to figure out what can be done with the talent that is there. Who knows maybe he is, maybe this team/ talent is so unbelievably awful that we have the best guys playing. I do find it hard to believe that the current talent is equivalent to South Alabama levels.

There really is no choice for me PAHusker. I remember the 1967 Sugar Bowl (the Million Dollar Band showing 21-0 during the halftime deal), the 1990 Oklahoma game where OU kicked a field goal with 9 seconds left to win 45-10, and, yeah, the Penn State game (in the rain) a few years back. We have seen some great times but there have been some bad ones also. Since the early 2000s its been tough but I love me some Huskers--it is what it is. All you can do after a loss like this one is look around for someone to slap but, despite what some are saying, Northwestern will not be easy.

But I'm in for the long haul and I'm tired of the coaching carousel. I'm riding the Frost pony and that's it. But, I feel your pain.

Of course fans are going to hang in there but gripe all the while not having a clue what is going on.

I can't believe anyone is surprised by this. It is totally unacceptable. We are so out coached, there I said it. We are just a step up from starting all over again.

Lol, what coach do you think could take our bunch and do any better?

We had a few chances to score and our QB sailed 3 passes.

We are getting killed because this team is WAAAAYYY better than us at every position and match up.

That’s what sucks. We are light years away from winning this conference.

Quit thinking some damn miracle worker can come in here and make our OL hold up to this DL. Or have a defense that can stop their perfect play calling or execution.

There is a big difference between having guys in the right place but still not making the play. That is the difference between coaching and athletes. You may have noticed we had neither Saturday night.

So when a team that has recruited worse than us sticks with OSU, what are you going to use as an excuse?

No doubt, we are not at the talent level we need to be, but at the same token, are we as far off as we saw Saturday night? The answer is No.

I didn’t say it was “all” on the coaches. When you look at recruiting comparisons over the past few years do you see us ahead or behind most teams we play? I can see there are obvious “talent” issues on this team but but you have to ask why some of these kids are not doing better against stalwart teams like USA, Colorado and Northern Illinois from the MAC. Look at the big picture.

I'm really just speaking in truths. Nebraska is not even close to Ohio State Not in talent or coaching.

Yes, some other team might get a sleepy version of OSU and play with them. We didn't. They beat the eff out of Nebraska.

I'm not trying to make excuses. Sorry if it's coming off that way. I'm just still happy with our staff and where we're going. If we don't improve this year I'll give my stupid opinion on where our faults lie.

Right now we have a QB with the yips (head issue), bad OL, one decent WR, and a defensive scheme I don't like but they're better than last year.

We have been bad the last 18 years more or less. I'll give Frost ample time to rebuild properly.

It looks bleak now, but there is hope.

We’re still new into the Frost era but it looks eerily similar to both Harbaugh and Kingsbury. I thought when we drove down the field using 90’s offensive playbook was awesome though... and damn effective! Need tough minded players, the body language of Martinez HAS to improve though

You are correct, you have to look at the bigger picture, so let me ask you how much gains do you expect to see in a years worth of time, mind you we haven’t even got the extra practices that being bowl eligible gives you for the last two years... I will concede the fact that our team should have beat Colorado, and we shouldn’t have let USA hang around like they did, but I think that is also the product of a young coach who is still learning as well. Scott isn’t perfect but what I like about him is 1 he gets the Nebraska way and 2 he is always willing to learn. He will keep progressing and he has great mentors to lean on give him time and we will all reap the rewards

Frost deserves this. He is the one who walked in here cocky and ran his mouth.

I prefer to think that it is the offense he is most comfortable with. Many (almost all coaches) are lie that. But
I see him starting to make changes.
