Kentucky isn't scheduled to play until Friday so there's not very many there yet.
Serious question...can the NCAA/SEC or NBA be sued by ticket holders, season ticket holders or even a class action suit? Advertisers sue TV networks? TV networks sue NCAA, etc? Probably not the advertisers, networks,NCAA/NBA 'cause they're in the same bed together. But ticked off fans? I kind of doubt it, but I wouldn't put it past some of these 'ambulance chasers'.
They’re going to be issuing refunds. Good luck in lawsuits when states of emergency have been declared.
I still stand by that as it actually proves my point. Most were saying “hoax, politics, etc”. I said people should decide for themselves and it was more real than many thought out here.
Most contracts have a force majure clause that allows them to get out of things for acts outside their control

Doubt it. The news was out there and no one forced fans to go, they made their own choice. I had tickets and decided at last minute not to go taking safe route VS the fun route. Lucky call on my part. Just thinking there is nothing there to sue over.
Agree, and I guess they did it today vs tomorrow when most were traveling. It’s tough all around and going to be an odd experience this year for sure.
My point is, you knew the risk, you CHOSE to go knowing the risk so don't complain now. Fair warning, don't make any ncaa tourney plans.

I was watching about this earlier about a vendor agency that does the players championship, NBA things and in their insurance for reimbursement for events that get shut down, pandemics are not covered.

Is it being used as a political tool? Absolutely. It’s a political season and the economy is good. “It’s the economy stupid”. The objective of a political party is to win elections, period. The economy is the number 1 issue in every national election.
Does that matter at all when it comes to the severity of the virus? No.
Can the news media be overreacting for ratings? Of course. And they are.
An elementary logic class would do an awful lot of people some good, amirite?

If you bought from them. Most probably did StubHub or Ticketmaster. All will refund I think. Unless you bought from scalper you are probably covered except flights, travel, etc if you went.
I fully expect to see them to start pulling these teams off the court anytime now. That is how crazy fast this is happening.
Always! My point was this seemed pretty evident yesterday and even Monday so why not call it before the games get going. I know things change daily so it’s not easy. I cancelled some big events last week to protect people.
BTW- I am still trying to work out the NCAA to watch my “nephew” Nate ball in his last tourney. Will be nice with open seating vs the usual fortune they charge
With what happened in the NBA tonight I highly doubt the tournament gets played.
Most have not arrived yet except 4 teams playing now in front of fans. Money for tickets will be refunded. Could be worse, could of been cancel. So sit back and enjoy
I'm beginning to think that way too. The NBA decision tonight will probably be adopted by NCAA and the NBA involves a lot more money.
Rumor is each team may get a small (100 or so) amount of tickets for university/team staff and family. Not much but may at least create a little clapping and noise. The silence will make it like practice. Teams are going to have to bring their own emotion. Will likely change the outcomes of many games. It’s going to be interesting.
I do agree with those that believe it may just get cancelled. If a player is positive at anytime in the next 3 weeks it’s probably over.

I wish people would stop using "sad" and "fake news" as statements. I also wish I was articulate enough to accurately express my disdain for these statements and why I dislike them. Basically, I personally believe it boils down to a "dear leader" mentality. It would be great, left or right, if people would just think for themselves.
Ok. “Disappointing” Then. No reason to have waited given direction things were going. You have to err on the side of safety, not hedge on the chance you can still make money. It’s hard, but the right things often are.
Reminds me of 2008 Atlanta and the tornado. I was sitting in a box as our game was about to tip off when the SHTF. Bought my tix through a 3rd party and never got a refund.
They did exactly what they intended. They cancelled late so they could get their insurance and hope to net as much tourism dollars as possible.
When they released the initial statement about more to come, they knew it was getting cancelled. They just waited a few hours anyway

So you want to pick a nice, friendly virus? Study immunology or virology much? I’m guessing no. It’s killed fewer people than hernias or peptic ulcers and won’t kill more. Have some perspective and don’t overly dramatize like the rest of the world.
P.S. Virus’ aren’t fair or unfair, they’re just highly replicative strands of opportunistic rna-they just do what they do in any viable host. Fair isn’t part of it.
The NBA decision was because a player tested positive for the Corona Virus. As soon as a college player tests positive it will probably result in the same thing. My favorite time of the year ruined, but that’s small potatoes as to what could happen I guess!
I didn't think so either, but we're such a sue happy society I wouldn't put it past someone.
I went to law school years ago, but never practiced so I couldn't really remember much of how this could/would work out contract wise, etc.
