Our team will be ok come tourney time. This game was prime for the ref undertaking, not surprised at all to totally expected it. Don’t say “the team played poorly” the refs affect the game and 2 fouls on Myles in the first min set the tone for the team, they’re not robots. Now Garza elbows Paul in the face and it’s called a flop. They can’t make it any more obvious. Pike vs Fran is a bad matchup because Fran hammers the refs and Pike buys them dinner

Talking about the game before it started I said I guarantee Myles picks up two crap fouls in the first few minutes. So..... Unreal. Changed the entire game. We shot like crap, but that set the tone. There was no doubt that the refs were going to screw us in this game.

Agreed. Suspected with Garza and Iowa down and this on the road etc, that refs would start if off with a little dirt in our eyes and a kick in the nutts. They did exactly that. Iowa took it from there, but had it not been for them on freak fire from 3, we would have beaten them. We played w heart and kept coming.

Pummel NW and then beat the snobs. We will be ok.

Not mad, just frustrated as hell. Hard to win without any veteran leadership.

I’m not mad about this game. The guys did show some fight in the second half. We didn’t shoot anywhere near well enough to win tonight, but the officiating was comical at times. Again, it didn’t change the outcome, but it was absurd. Ron needs to find his shot...he’s the key to the rest of the season. Schedule gets as favorable as you can ask in the B1G from here out. 6 games left, and you can make the case we should be favored in 5 of them. Let’s finish strong.

By my count, Paul Mulcahy has been elbowed in the face twice by Luka Garza tonight. Not only did Garza not get whistled for either of them, they actually called a flop on Mulcahy on one of them.
Wasn’t called a flop. Was a called foul. Cylinder violation. It was still the wrong call. Mulcahy left him enough room. Garza pivoted towards him and swung his arms around.

All the other coaches jaw at the refs all day long. It's an easy choice. Get a raft of **** from the other guy or not to. No matter what they do, Pike will always be nice, it's just who he is. So our guys get shafted again and again. At least Grape Ape is gone from Iowa after this season. Hate that guy. Let him go try and hot dog in the NBA, see how quick he realizes the refs won't protect him and let him get away with his crap there.

this is not a good sign for ncaa tourney time, remember we will have NO years of experience in the tourney and any analyst who have been watching the ncaa tourney for years will tell you experience matters. You can have all the potential in the world but if you do not react to adversity by hanging tough you will be an easy out and you could get blown out. This team just as a tendacy to get flustered too easily and too have certain players force everything to make up for it. If that happens in the tourney we could lose to a 10 or 11 seed by double digits

I really think you guys are discounting Myles getting 2 quick ones. It is a different game if Myles plays normal minutes. He is the key and basically needs to stay away from everyone if he gets his first foul especially if it happens that quick. It happened against onio state.l in an instant.

I am mot mad about this game for a couple reasons.

1. We won 4 out of 5. I would much rather take the L tonight than against Northwestern, Minnesota or nebraska.

2. Everyone complains about our offense but then gets pissed about us missing wide open 3s. This begs the question if our offense is so bad then why do we get standing still wide open 3s but I digress... We were 6-28 from 3 at one point 1-19. We will never win a game shooting the 3 like that.

Making the tourney last year would’ve been massive for our chances this year. Assuming we end up making it next year and there aren’t any surprise transfers, we could make some noise next year if Geo/Young/Myles/Ron come back.

It was nirvana when they were rolling early in the season. Now back down to earth. Not mad either, expectations were too grandiose when we reached #11.

I love Pike, but he has to work the ref, he just doesn't.

I was waiting for the game but got to watch the Double OT Indy- NW game instead.

By the time the game came on we were down double digits and Myles had 3 fouls.

the 2nd foul was obvious and don't know why Pike didn't pull him or give him orders to lay low until the half. But he didn't. The 3rd foul was a mirage and i believe even the announcer said something about it.

Myles has to play smarter. He can't get involved in pushing matches or setting moving screens (don't know what the first foul was).

Here's hoping we beat NW...and stay above .500.

I thought the team's response to adversity against Iowa was a 100 times better than the OSU game. They kept fighting but couldn't overcome the ridiculous amount of 3's that Iowa kept chucking up. I also thought Cliff played his best game in awhile. Caleb was playing real hard too. Paul pretty much got assaulted and played well afterwards.

I slept fine after this one.

I find myself getting more and more frustrated by college basketball in general. The good game are electric but then you sit through games like that and the Ohio state game and it’s just a bad product. I believe there were 4 fouls called in one inbounding sequence.

Between 12:12 and 12:03 in the second half we were called for three fouls, I believe that is the sequence you are referring to.

Easy to look past this game. Refs took us out of it early, we still fought hard, and despite the usual Garza shenanigans, we would have had a great chance to win if we shot the 3 better and they weren't hitting circus shots throughout the game. On to the next.
