I'm going to have to miss today's game, if you can believe it. Hubby is best man in a wedding, and the drive to get there, all the pre-wedding stuff (you know how they now take pics before hand?) , etc. Ceremony is at 5pm, but we have to leave at 1:30 to drop our son off at grandparents; it's at least a 45 minute drive, have to be there at 3. I may have to sit in the car to listen to the game

So - let me apologize in advance if there are any mojo issues: I won't be wearing my lucky tshirt, nor drinking my lucky beer. I won't have my UK blanket, or my Teddy-Cat. I'll be wearing blue and white to this wedding at least. And yes I will DVR the game.

Definitely not a happy camper

If you are not in the wedding, what does that have to do you with you? Expecting you to miss a NCAA game is nearly criminal.

When my wife and I were married in 1980, it was on the day of the Indiana game. We started traveling for our honeymoon but stopped and got a room for the game. No way would I miss the IU game.

We won and I must admit the halftime was better than usual.

Yep my wife's grandfather is turning 90 today and we have a surprise party for him. It's not til 4 but was just told we had to go early to help set up. Now, there will be access to TV, but I'll prob just tape it at home. Most of her family doesn't know I have basketbsll Tourette's so don't want to watch with them. I thought for sure UK would be a later game.

I told her the only other time I've missed a UK tourney game was in 2010 for her cousins wedding and we know how that movie ended!! lord knows she has worked many things around my UK games over the years so I'm conceding today, but it wasn't easy.

I can always check RR to see how we are doing, though even that can be hard to tell if we are winning or not lol

Go cats!!

I was best man for my brother in 2003, when Kentucky got destroyed by Marquette. We were at rehearsal dinner, and I asked one of the groomsmen what the score was. He told me Kentucky lost by double digits. I said, "You're joking." He looked at me with straight face and said, "No man, I wish I was joking."

For a moment, I contemplated death.

Who the hell schedules a wedding for the first weekend of the NCAAT?

There are weeks and weeks of perfectly good, nothing else in the world going on weekends from mid April to august.

Well, I do have to kind of hold on to the hubby; that whole love of my life and father of my kids thing. And, I still like him.

I can find a way to watch or listen to the game - but, I won't have the usual accoutrements, and that worries me a little.

Ok, it worries me a lot. But hey, it's only crazy if it doesn't work.

This.

I turned down going to a 3PM wedding in a few weeks because of a "prior commitment" - i.e., I don't know if/when UK will be playing on that Saturday, so sorry world, you can't get me to go to commit to anything in late March/ early April.

Yea, the wedding i had to go to when we lost to West Viginia was similar feeling. I was following on my phone and kept thinking I would see the Cats finally take the lead. When they didn't I proceeded to drink more than my share of that 'open bar'.

When my wife told me just two years later that the couple had already spilt up...I simply said good, they deserve it!

I have to be at an out of town wedding during the F4. I asked my wife if her(our) niece would back the date one week. Then I had to duck.

My wife's family always plans the children of her family's birthday parties on Saturdays and I swear they must look at the UK football and basketball schedule and plan it dead on either 1pm or 4pm or whatever time kick or tipoff is. I have missed every one of my niece's and nephew's birthdays…..It is a shame….. I have already told my 4 children that it is in bad form schedule such things without regard to UK sports scheduling and they understand loud and clear so hopefully this thing isn't genetic and I have stopped this atrocity from perpetuating any further.

I kinda in the same boat. I'm in a classic rock band, and we have a gig today at 6. Have to be there to set up at 3:30. I'll see some of the game.

This is me next weekend. Son's senior music recital is Friday in Nashville, and he got a last minute gig for a concert Thursday night that we will get to just in time. We will certainly miss the whole regional semifinal and won't be able to check scores or anything. Saturday we fly home late, at 9 p.m. but if UK is playing later that 8 pm I'll miss the regional final too. And if they play earlier that day I'll have to convince my family to take 3 hours out of the day to go watch the game with me, so that may not happen either. Mr. YouKay is a pretty big fan but neither of my kids care about basketball at all. (I know, I totally failed as a mother.)

In 2003 my sister-in-law got married the night of UK's second round game. The wedding was at a small town inn that had no TV or radio. It was pretty agonizing. It was in Boston so I couldn't even find the score on the radio afterward in the car. Had to wait until almost midnight to get the score on SportsCenter. Also that year I had a client in town and had to take him to dinner the night of the regional semi. At least he was a sports fan and let me go ask the bartender what the score was. But that was the game when Keith Bogans got hurt and I didn't know about that until the next day.

Sometimes life does get in the way of UK basketball, no matter how hard we try to plan. Just pray UK gets to the Final Four and we have no conflicts then!!

Gahhh!!!!
Another wedding planned in March!!
People need to understand that you just don't
schedule a wedding in March or early April.
I got married in '96 and I can remember discussing the
wedding date planning with my soon to be wife.
I knew UK was going to be good that year so I
'steered' the date to later April.
I guess i said something like "Hey, it's warmer and more spring like..." or some crap like that...
Glad I did.... If it was scheduled during a UK tournament
game...I surely would've caught a lot of crap because of it ( and rightly so).
People need to remember....
Your wedding is not as important as my UK basketball !!

Take your phone and check the score. Assuming we get there I'll miss next Saturday's game unless it starts at like 9 pm eastern. Have fun. It's a big day for them, and I'm sure they'll be glad you came.

I had to miss the 2010 E8 game. I was at an event for a for a kid that had had a kidney transplant. It was actually held in a bar, so the game was on (I was the only one really watching). WVU jumped out to a lead, then the guy in charge decided to make a speech and turned the TV off. I managed to get home for the final 2 min, but it was too late.

Had to miss the 2012 SECT final game. My mom got tix for our family to go to some Disney on Ice thing. Caught the post game show as soon as we got back to the car that afternoon. Bummer.

Last year, I had to take my daughter to a Father-Daughter dance the night of the F4 game vs. Wisconsin. I tried following on my phone, but reception was sketchy. Got home in time to watch Aaron ice the game.

These Cats are good enough to win this one either way.

Edit to add: It looks like you have long hair. Take your phone and a set of ear buds to listen to the game. You can hide the wires with some dangly ear rings.

Temporarily divorce him, watch the game, skip all the unnecessary wedding stuff and taking zillion pictures, and you can always remarry him after the game is finished if you wish.
Problem solved my dear. You can thank me later.
P.S. No charge for my advice.

OP needs to just do what needs to be done, cut bait and run. Her husband actually thinks that HE can beat THE University of Kentucky Wildcats? The Wildcats are undefeated this season Bkocats, and not even the love of your life, the apple of your eye, your own dream team, etc, is going to stop this train..

I recommend you immediately file for divorce, and blair out Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" as he leaves your life in shame and some 22 year old UK student takes his place whose life revolves around UK sports.

This is your own one shining moment OP, and when its done, win or lose, you always did your best cause inside you knew...

The choice is yours, choose wisely.

Here's what I do, I downloaded the "tunein" radio app and get a bluetooth. I have the style that looks like a necklace and has 2 earbuds on thin leads. With the tunein app you can toggle between games. It's not tv but it's not going to disrupt the wedding.

I am a videographer and agreed 6 months ago to fim a ballet today. I figured there was a 50/50 chance we would even play on sat and then a good chance our game would be later in the day. Boy was I wrong. I should be able to stream the radio broadcast at least...
