It’s the same thing for Fickell at Wisconsin. They wanted to fire him but don’t want to get in on the coaching circus.

FSU wants to sit out this season’s coaching carousel.
Seems like next season won’t be as quiet as it may have seemed with so many coaches potentially in year 1. 2025 looked like it would be crazy, but a lot of schools and coaches are sitting it out. Kentucky appears to be keeping Stoops, so you could start ‘26 with 4 P4 coaches on the hot seat (Lebby, Stoops, Fickle and Norvell).

I think the Stoops camp may be flying under the radar looking for other opportunities.

That’s a terrible reason to keep a bad coach. Who knows what the coaching turnover next year might be?

It's all fine and good to give him the dreaded "vote of confidence" now, but if he loses to a 3-win Florida team next weekend and misses a bowl game, I suspect the admin will do a 180 on this.
