Northwestern vs Purdue

Big 10 play officially starts tonight with Northwestern at Purdue (and New Mexico St at Minnesota). Should be an interesting game to watch with divisional implications.

Purdue came out looking pretty good throwing the ball around, and then threw up a classic YOLO bomb. Not sure if they will be able to establish the run.

NW marched down the field easily and scored. Thorson looks pretty good. Hasn't run much but the knee doesn't seem to be bothering him.

Yeah. Northwestern looks pretty good. Purdue...does not. They just scored, but the Purdue D looks terrible.

Purdue's QB Elijah Sindelar looks like a 'gamer'....I think he will have a good year...

Thought I read that Purdue was going to wear matte helmets this year. Those are certainly not matte.

I'm watching the Minnesota game. The Gophers have a stud running back & a vicious DE (Cashman....or something like that). They're using a freshman qb who looked shaky as hell the 1st qtr but then in the 2nd qtr looked very good.

Not overly impressive so far but stlll leading 35 - 10 at half. 1st game so who knows?

Did the Huskers recruit Rondale Moore? Good run defense by Northwestern. They are wide open too athletes in space though.

I have no reference for these teams. Too early. It's a good game though.

After watching this game, I'm a little giddy to watch Frost's offense in the B1G, despite the cockeyes prognostications of how effective his offense will be.

If Martinez can be a good facilitator, (big if I know) this offense could be ridiculous. Also c'mon O-line.

I'm more worried about the defense. I'm gun-shy on a Iowa coordinator. We'll see. We know our team won't give up. Northwestern will move down at least a slot in the bowl invitations next season.

Purdue is gonna be a pain in the *** until Brohm moves on. That team is only going to get better. Hopefully, some SEC school hires him away.

I guess I've been in a daze for a few years now. Objectively looking at that game, I am just struck by how slow they look. To think we were at or below that level of play.

I am pissed Northwestern won. First, I don't like them or their coach. Second, I want Brohm to do well at Purdue so he gets snatched away at the end of this year by a better program. We need some teams on our schedule who are like Kansas of old: an almost guaranteed win every year. You can't be playing top flight teams every damn week. Third, we play NW on the road but Purdue at home so I like our chances of beating Purdue more than our chances of beating NW

When we play Northwestern on the road, it is pretty much a home game for us:

NU should have beaten NW last year when the team was beyond woeful. NU has owned NW in Evanston since joining the league. I think that will be the case this year.

I agree. I think we beat NW. I also think we beat Purdue. But since Purdue is a home game I feel more comfortable about it with a true Freshman QB

I know its first game but I wasn't impressed with either team. Purdue has a true freshmen playmaker by the name of Moore who is electric, he is going to be a major pain in the butt for a lot of teams when he touches the ball.
