But their offense is dynamic..and QB is very good.
Can we win a shootout with them?

Phil is going to have to blitz like vs IU and take our chances...could get ugly as USC has a good oline.
We need to pick off one of these floaters over the middle.

Neither team is playing much defense, we could beat both of them IMHO. NU’s OL is pretty impressive, but ours is better.😎

USC's defense is back to being one of the worst units in the country........
Yes, very undisciplined holding the edge, not much penetration and Lbkrs getting swept up in the wash

Over the years jNW was noted for their Off holding, not sure if that is still true, havent seen any blatant holds

That NU guy in the end zone just had to fall on the rock, instead he treated it like it was a greased pig…🐖

USC having their backup QB put on the jersey number of their punter on the fake was some bullsh*t. If a player has to switch numbers in order to not duplicate for a play that’s one thing but it shouldn’t be able to be used for deception. Bush league.
I can’t wait to beat this team - they remind me of that SC team we handled easily in a bowl game…

It's nothing new or groundbreaking. If you're not ready...it's your own f***ing fault

NU needs to score here or lights out….like Iowa, not a ‘catch up/big play’ type of offense…😉

If NW was a halfway decent tackling and blocking team, they'd be giving USC a hell of a fight. They're pretty sloppy.

Yeah, they just don’t seem that athletic either….SC game might be tougher than I originally thought a couple hours back. I feel like an Indy esque type of game approaching….but Indy’s defense is much better. I see a 24-16 type of Win in a couple of weeks…🤨

I can't even believe that's legal.

From the linked story:

This bit of trickery was quite legal, apparently: Huard [the 3rd string QB] wore No. 7 earlier this season, but he is listed as No. 80 on the USC roster for this week after coach Lincoln Riley’s team quietly made the change.

Punter Sam Johnson also wears No. 80. College football teams frequently feature two players wearing the same number.

Northwestern coach David Braun credited Riley and special teams coordinator Ryan Dougherty for their creativity, describing it as a “lesson learned.”

“Did not show up on the roster online. Had not shown up anywhere else,” Braun said. “But they did legally submit that. Was on the game day roster that was here present at the Coliseum. And the lesson I’ve learned in that for the rest of my career is we arrive at a facility, we will go over that with a fine tooth comb and look for any of those potential issues,” Braun said.

Lincoln Riley is a whiny *****.
Post- game he alluded to strange scheduling playing on a Friday nite
Coach...you are at home.
You had a bye last week.
NW played last Sat, then had to travel cross-country, on a short week.
Shut up, Coach.

Other way around (NW BYE -> USC road game vs Nebraska)

So you think teams should be responsible for recognizing the faces of their opponents through their facemasks? Huard was obviously wearing #80 for the purpose of deception. Bush league.
Back in the day when C.J. Beathard had his locks flowing beneath his helmet and was a backup QB, both he and the punter (Kidd?) wore 16. Kidd was also the regular holder. On a kick against Wisconsin (I think just an XP), Beathard was the holder; the hair was the giveaway. And, we just kicked. Still wondering 10+ years later if it was a fake that wasn’t called because of how Bucky lined up or if Kidd had a momentary medical issue and CJ was also the backup holder.

I have no qualms with that type of trickeration if it was a potential fake.
