North Surry 5-3 1-2 West Stokes and Forbush
West Stokes 2-6 1-2 North Surry and Surry Central
Surry Central 0-8 0-3 Mt Airy and West Stokes

My projections for the season ending standings are as follows:

Looks good except I'm not sold on the West Stokes vs North Surry game. I think both teams are capable of winning. Just depends what West Stokes team and what North Surry team shows up.

I do think North beats Forbush though.

What "we" have heard is that he is "OUT" for good. Something about a vertebra. I certainly hope that is not the case, he is a real player and equally good young man from all I know.

He is good athlete hope he is ok. I think North beats Forbush but with West getting guys healthy and changes to offense West wins by few scores against North Surry.

I believe my projections for the today's games was right on, East beats Forbush, West Stokes defeats North Surry and, of course Mt Airy defeated Surry Central.

Congratulations to Emerson Pucket from North Surry winning the 4a golf state championship. Big accomplishment playing in tough conditions

This weekend West Stokes competes in the cross country state championships. Last weekend West had individual winners in regional for boys and girls. The girls also won team event in regional. Good luck this weekend.

Also seen where East Surry girls finished runnerup in the 3a golf state championship. Conference is doing well hoping Mt Airy can make some noise in football playoffs.

With a second look, West Stokes did beat East Surry 47-28, just hoping Mount Airy wins Friday to keep it this way, and West Stokes will not have any problem beating Surry Central.

It all seems to be unknown to me with the new 8-bracket and conferences, one game at a time, and not thinking ahead. Mount Airy has only played the first and last games so far this year, without as many as 3 starters missing every game. All were back last Friday for the first time since the 1st game of the season, and last Friday they lost one of their best players for the rest of the year, from what I am hearing. This has been a crazy year that has really burnt /me out. I don't really like the new Preps format of 1A/2A -3A/4A - 5A/6A, & 7A/8A. I tried it in basketball, and I may have lasted one or two seasons posting, and then gave it up. I will just have to wait and see if I want to start another year in 2026. I am missing many NWC posters from previous years. I don't think I have seen an East Surry poster this year, if so, they only posted a time or two. Maybe I will be ready for another year when it gets here. I guess I just don't like change as I have gotten older, and probably won't be missed in this new format.

They played soft schedule and had injury that took out their best player. Will be surprised if they win first round.

No Defense! Weak up front but have size. Well coached as he is a MA guy. Really good QB but stud WR is out!

Stud WR/DB is out. Team has battled many other injuries. Defense has allowed only 15 ppg against teams not named MA. Offense struggled post Fisher being out, but has found success on the ground of late. QB threw for 200 vs Forbush as a couple of receivers have stepped up. Best win probably West Wilkes (7-3, who beat Starmount). Played ES and WS extremely tough with multiple starters missing. A lil healthier now.

I’ve only seen North Surry in a scrimmage at Watauga. I stated on these boards back then that I was impressed with their team.

Engaged coaching staff is what stood out to me the most! Their team drove down the field and scored twice on Watauga in the full field scrimmage. Their QB sold on fakes as good as anyone as well.

Just saying.

Salisbury has lost to some tough teams….i honestly don’t have a clue who will win this opening round game!

Toss up in my opinion! We’ll see.

I think East Surry has a very good chance to pull off an upset. Their game against North Stanly is the most likely to be a competitive game of the bunch next week.

The next most likely to be a be a game is the North Surry game, but I don't expect they will be able to keep up with Maiden. Maiden is football community, and I can't see the Greyhounds going in there and pulling of the upset. Maiden is better than their record or seed would suggest. After the loss the Newton, I would imagine those guys are icthing to get a redemption game and won't let North Surry get in their way. They will want that game.

Can West Stokes beat Brevard? If things worked out in their favor and those guys decided they want to play to the best of their potential, then yes. West Stokes has some really good players. At the beginning of the season, it was probably between them and Mount Airy for the conference title in most eyes. I personally don't think they have played to their potential this year, but the potential is still there. I could see it during the Mount Airy game, but they weren't quite putting it together. I hope it all comes together for them, but they will absolutely have to in order to beat Brevard. He doesn't have the 2019 East Surry Cardinals, but Lowman has experience and some good kids, sometimes that all it takes if you make the right calls.

Thomasville is hard to ever count out, but I am going to count them out because I sit in the stands and don't stand on the sidelines. Coach Taylor doesn't get that luxury. He will do his job. Meanwhile, I get to speculate who will roll into Mount Airy in round 3 like you hooligans. Mount Airy and Thomasville does have some history though. I am honestly more interested in the Shelby-East Rutherford game.

It's good to see the Northwest conference remains a strong football conference. 4 out 5 qualified are still in the running at least for the second round.

With a healthy Atkins at QB and Fisher Leftwich at WR North Surry is clearly the 2nd best team in the NW. Maiden will be a challenge to say the least.

I'll have to disagree with this. West Stokes has only had #24 and #10 last 5 games two of their best players. Jay Boogie and Kymani Brown learning new roles in backfield starting to pay off.

4 of us actually went to Shelby to watch that game. Left at half time. Nice stadium, good concession stand on home side, not enough electricity on visit side to run coffee pot or microwave. They even had liver mush. Actually, it was pretty good. Coffee was also very good.

Nice restrooms and good parking. Place was not packed for a playoff game. Good weather. Lots of police/security present.

Pretty much true lol. Beautiful baseball stadium makes football field look like a rec field. They usually have wings also at concession stand. And no honestly I don't know if I ever see them pack the place out for a game. They film their games from an old gas powered scissor lift that they use starter fluid to get running. As u come through Shelby u start wondering how they are not a 5a or 6a school. City has grown to look like a smaller Mooresville

NS wrapped up an early Christmas present with all the bad snaps to hand West a win. Easily a win with Leftwich. He's significantly better than anybody West has.

I went to the Maiden East Surry playoff game few years ago . I believe you guys would have pulled it out if Culver hadn't got injured. Lowman coached good game against you all.
