I couldn’t see anything until I took pics with my phone. It shows up great in pics but there was nothing to the naked eye.

The sky had a reddish tint for us. It was using our cell cameras that we were about to see the detail and the whites and greens.

You must live where it's bright. The sky was pink where I was and then it was white later in the morning.

What time of night?

Last night they started about an hour after sunset. Maybe an hour and a half. This morning they were visible until about an hour before sunrise.

This isn't last night (I took it in April of 2023), but if any Cat fan ever wants to come visit in Alaska, I'll take you to photograph them.
