why hasn't NIU been involved in big 12 expansion talks? are they a lot worse then cin and memphis?
I hear their name pop up a bit...like cin and memphis
would they reach many tv sets?

One mans opinion but only been there twice. Dekalb is kind of a **** hole with very small potential to make that next big step like the 4 they are courting

Three Omaha kids on their roster in the 2-deep, FYI. Not that that has anything to do with anything!

DeKalb has changed a ton in the last 20 years and it is still kind of a ******** farm area.

Plus, no one in Illinois watching Illini football or NW football, they watch Michigan and ND.

I grew up in Illinois and never once heard anyone ask about NIU football.

Illinois already has two P-5 schools. Cincy, coastal flori-duh, Houston, and BYU are large schools that bring new TV markets.

Because the Big 12 already has Iowa State and NIU wouldn't add incremental TV viewers in Iowa vs. what they already have. The other markets you mention are incremental to the existing Big 12 footprint.

Doesn't really expand the B1G market, and they aren't successful enough to make that not as important. Dekalb isn't that bad IMO (I work in the next county over) but it isn't exactly a prime destination for college football and would need to grow alot to be comparable to other B1G college towns.

But niu isn’t in Iowa, the thread is about northern ILLINOIS, not northern Iowa

Tiny campus. Been through there dozens of times for work.

Dekalb doesn’t have a market like Cincy, Orlando, and Houston, and they don’t have the following of a team like BYU.
