I understand why he took him out (stupid turnover when trying to do too much), but Hopkins knew his mistake immediately, so I was hoping Cal would let him play thru the mistake.
I love Wheeler at the rim when we are running, he usually finishes. Hate it when he does it in the half-court like against Dook with the tall trees just waiting for him. He's impressive when he has his defender moving with him at the rim. Good game for him tonight.
I still think not having some of our veterans, and a consistent roster.. keeps us from blowing teams out more, and makes us look lost at times. Just as Brooks is getting going..he's out. Mintz, out. It's hard to have your best game when the players are constantly rotating.
It’s just such a selfish turnover. You have a ball handler on both sides of you and you recklessly bring it up. Just can’t do it.

Terrible start turned into a pretty good performance. We should be winning by 50 if we had everybody healthy

Reading the early parts of this thread seems like a parody to me.
We had solid ball movement, solid off ball movement, and took good shots. A lot of great looks just didn't drop for us, but thats the way it can go. Playing uptempo like we have been, and need to do, helps make those cold spells matter a lot less than in a low possession game.
Cats look great in transition and uptempo, and I got no problems with us jacking up decent shots as long as we have a chance for an offensive rebound.
If I were Cal, I would be kicking up the tempo to even greater degree and get these guys all used to it. We got some hustlers, we are deepish, and even our big man has a motor and a gas tank.
When we play tougher competition, the ability to run them down and break them with our tempo can go a long way.

God I hope we have Hopkins for his Junior and possibly senior year...
