Ben McDaniels--QB coach for Michigan. Last OC we had with a semblance of an offense in 2015. 27.1 points per game!!!

Yearning for the days of the flood era . This guy was entertaining and a better game coach than ash, except for the 5th down spike

I have to agree that Norries Wilson was so entertaining to listen to. I really liked that guy and his press conference and interviews were priceless. I would love it if we got him back on the staff somewhere. Just not as full time HC. But I bet he’s a good recruiter

Nutty would be an upgrade on the sidelines and the post game press conferences would actually be worth watching as opposed to the canned, predictable platitudes we get now

"Coach, why didn't Rettig play?"

"I didn't put Rettig in."

Ash's response: "Ummm, Ahh, Errr, umm. He has been doing really well in practice, and we love his effort and progress. We will look for the right opportunity for him."

I don’t have a problem with Ash’s press conferences. He does okay. In fact, I’m not nearly as negative as everyone else about Ash. I think he’s trying his best and doing the right things. But the hole we’re in is just too deep for him.

So we hire someone else. I suspect that, unless we spend huge money, we’ll be in the same boat with the next guy.

We need to recruit much better to win. But selling the program to kids good enough to help us compete in the Big Ten is extremely challenging. I get the sense that a lot of people are underestimating that challenge.

I'm not so sure it's doable. Every year loads of great prospects from New Jersey go away to play for some of the top programs. How is that supposed to change ?
I'm beginning to think that my friend is right when he says that Rutgers football peaked with the Louisville game.

It may indeed not be doable with a no-name, up and comer, coach. But spend the money to get a big name coach with a history of winning in a P5 conference, and it becomes possible. We need to pay to play. What we did with Flood, and did again with Ash, obviously has low odds of working and those odds don’t improve just because we change to a new no-name coach.

RU can keep throwing low-to-medium money at the problem and hope lightning strikes, or they can get serious and invest in the program in a way with much higher odds of instantly improving recruiting.

I can never get that picture of Wilson sleeping during a recruiting event out of my mind.

And he has Head Coach experience. But Columbia was pretty bad.

Yes, who was the last guy to do well at Columbia? Probably says more about Lions than him.

I have a friend whose kid played for him and can't say enough good about the man.

I can't speak to how good a coach he is. But he sure does seem like a very good person.
