All those ex-Spirit Staffers have Twitter/Social Media, and they have not made any statements.

If Chuck wanted to tell all his loyal fans goodbye, why couldn’t he do so on social media? If they were screwed over, why not clear the air elsewhere? I assume they’ve signed non-disclosures.

What am I missing?

I would think so too, but several Spirit posters say they talked to Chuck and Ben. According to them, both say they are fired.
Besides, the site name change doesn’t make sense if it’s a suspension or temporary.
I would bet they got some sort of settlement as long as they signed a NDA.

Another method I've seen is to offer a severance to be paid at a later date that is dependent on remaining hushed until that date. By then, it is old news.

It's all speculative at this point, and I doubt we ever really get to the bottom of it. But I'm sure the initial scope of this was Yancy's incompetence until Chuck sent that DM stating that Yancy is responsible for affecting recruiting. That opens a huge can of worms and affects the football program and the coaching staff directly. I wouldn't be surprised if the staff has vocalized their anger about it all. So canning Yancy wasn't enough at that point. Getting rid of everything "OM Spirit" was the path forward. I believe Ben was collateral damage in this, and will end up getting hired by McReady or by DJ directly.

I think you're probably not too far off. Yes, Yancy fabricating a quote is the thing that broke this, but it wasn't an isolated incident or just Yancy. There's something deeper that involves all of them, and as you say there's now a real threat to the football program if they're not all fired.

That's a pretty serious NCAA violation and given how viral this thing went, it's gonna get looked into.

Because he's a dubmass. He's well-known for being one. And he reacted too quickly to come to Yancy's defense without thinking it through. He probably thought of himself as invincible, too.

The rundown:
Yancy made up a quote from Devin Brown, a USCw QB commit, and posted it to the Spirit.
Devin Brown put Yancy on blast on Twitter and said he never said that.
Yancy posted to the Spirit message board that he never misquoted anybody, but still took the quote down.
Yancy DM'ed Devin Brown and asked him to take the Tweet down "because it's making me look bad".
Devin Brown then tweeted (since deleted, but screenshotted in threads here) a screenshot of the DM and said an apology would be better.
Yancy posted an apology (since deleted, but screenshotted in threads here) and said he used a (still anonymous) "stringer" to get the quote and didn't vet it.
A number of Spirit posters called on Spirit Chuck to fire Yancy.
Chuck said Yancy made a mistake, but that he wouldn't fire him because of his importance to the program and how Yancy is personally responsible for dozens of recruits going to Ole Miss.
Last night, the OM Spirit was rebranded to "Inside the Rebels" and as of right now, it appears that Fancy Yancy, Spirit Ben, and Spirit Chuck have been fired. David Johnson remains.

I'm sure the NCAA will look into it. Then it will determine that disassociate the individuals involved and changing the name of the website is ample punishment.

One Spirit thread said that Ben was an employee of Chuck and not 247. I’m not sure how that is structured, but would make sense. The Sec of State lists The Ole Miss Spirit, Inc. as an active corporation with Charles Rounsaville as President. If 247 contracted Chuck’s company rather than hire Ben, Chuck, and Yancy as employees, they could’ve just cancelled that contract instead of firing. Chuck probably retained ownership of the Spirit name, hence: “Inside the Rebels”.

Looks like this was the case. Chuck and Ben have both tweeted that OM Spirit is now the OleMiss part of newer site called On3.com.

That is why 247 would’ve changed it’s name and Chuck took it to the new site, because he owns the name.

Chuck posted on the new site that they’ve “moved in different directions with Yancy”. Looks like Yancy is done. I kind of feel bad for the guy; he’ll have to completely change careers and start over.

I can’t imagine feeling bad for yancy. Guy is a Taylor made POS. I wish I had a list of all the ridiculous things he has said about state fans and players. I remember him saying that Simmons should be kicked off the team and in prison. Hope this hurts Chucks feelings too and he cried into his confederate grey pillowcase last night. Round em all up.
