Calipari will always have the "look at all the guys I have in the NBA" card. No matter where he goes, he still has that card for recruiting.
Who cares how many players he got to the NBA? That translated to NOTHING for Kentucky for most of Cal's years here. I care about wins at Kentucky, not how many 5 stars recruits we have coming and not about how many players Cal got to the NBA.

It's entirely possible to find the gray area between Cal and Pope. Talent acquisition at the high school level still matters and Pope is kinda struggling in that aspect, it can't be denied.

Pay to play, its really that simple. And its not just NIL pay checks.. its future opportunities, top not amenities and facilities and staff (like the GM we were talking about yesterday).

Kentucky has to spend for its success, it can not rely on legacy, or the fan support or the blue blood status. Miami and USC could never compete with the Kentucky's or Kansas' for recruits.. now they can, and they have a lot more money to throw around.

The point that we're making is that Kentucky is doing just fine considering the circumstances and college landscape.
Everyone has different expectations, but I think most here expect a higher level of performance out of the Kentucky program.
You may be right, however, about the college landscape. It may well be that expectations will need to be permanently lowered for ardent fans.
We'll see over the next few years, regardless of who our coach is, whether Kentucky can be what most here want and expect it to be.
Accepting a lower standard of performance may be in our future, unfortunately. I sure hope not, but realize that may well be the case.

The money will always be there if the athletic department shows that it cares. We have shite upper level leadership right now so that's the problem

I don't disagree with that. I prefer to have a mix and would be happy to have one or two really good incoming freshmen, but I don't think that Pope is a failure if he doesn't follow the Calipari model. But, I truly don't care how many players Cal put in the pros.

Nobody is asking him to follow that model. They're wanting him to actually get recruits that aren't elite recruits from KY. Where are those recruits? Don't see em

Our expectations is what makes Kentucky special so I won’t accept mediocrity
