Translation: you have nothing to rebuttal with, and that's because Pope sucks at recruiting.
Since you're one of his biggest advocates, it's quite telling that you literally have no defense at all in this category. Comical actually.

I live out of state and have zero UK fans around me. I listen to his show and Locked on Kentucky just to get UK info. I usually listen when I go for my 1 hour walk and my 30 minute fetch routine with the dogs. I rarely make it through the whole show. Part of why I listen is I want to hear his criticism of UK but I filter it through the lens of is he biased because his free ride has been constrained. But it is good to get the info. Also after big wins, nobody for me to “celebrate” with so I enjoy fans celebrating and I listen.
I rarely make it through a whole show because I personally find Jones to be a disingenuous condescending individual.
I do not care for Matt Jones for many reasons:
-his mocking tone of Kentucky people with the ridiculous ignorant accent. I get that enough where I live and don’t need to hear it.
-his feigning lack of awareness when it is politically convenient for him when it comes to events and acting as though he is very reasonable in his opinions while ignoring contrary evidence.
-his continuing to cut off callers without fully understanding their position because he doesn't agree.
When he does any of these, I turn it off for Locked on Kentucky or Bengals or just music. So it is rare for me to make an entire show.
Translation: It chaps your butt that the team is playing good basketball and you look like a fool for your Fire Pope nonsense
We theoretically have two incoming recruits already, albeit not from high school:
1. Hawthorne
2. Potter
Two interesting mid major portal prospects in no particular order:
1. Roman Doman - Big, skilled Fr wing
2. Allen Graves - Great all around Fr stretch 4. Doesn't shoot a ton of 3's but has a high %. Great on the glass and getting steals
Those two are the top of my portal target list. Obviously a lot depends on how the roster shakes out. Maybe we have 4 returning from the current roster. Maybe we have 7. We will see.

Until Pope is gone it will be more of the same. He’s doesn’t have the charisma or arrogance to lead and recruits see this. Also, if the fans can’t decipher what the hell he is saying imagine being a recruit and he’s trying to outline the plan he has for you while you attend UK… mind bending stuff I tell you.

Why don't you go to one of those top 5 schools boards and hang out then? Or grow some cajones and support the team instead of whining and crying

Let him put together his team with players he relates to and vice versa. Guys that want to play for him and UK. Might be older portal guys with maturity, experience and a chip on their shoulder. He might have pulled off some of those HS recruits realizing they wouldn’t fit. Might still grab a couple good HS players.
Remember he has 2 guys red shirting and both pretty solid. You should include them as recruits. Will have a bunch of key returners. Lots of good reports particularly on Hawthorne. He might be considered a top 10- 15 2026 HS recruit and he’s got a years experience in the program as does Potter at 7 ft with skill. Seen many 7 footers develop in college. I bet he turns out to be a solid player.

Great point. I don't mind folks not being happy that we aren't signing top HS kids. But this sky is falling mess is getting old. We will have 7-8 guys returning next season including the redshirt. If Pope gets 2-3 big time Portal players, we will have a heck of a team
Well, this is a HUGE issue. If Pope can’t recruit, he cannot succeed here.
He did that this year and we see how that turned out.

I dont mind recruiting threads. I dont even mind people being upset we don't have any recruits yet. But its nonsense to start thread after thread about the same thing to pile on the coach
We have yet to see how this year has turned out. It's the last 1/3 of the season that's most important.
You know, Pope could shut those guys up anytime he wants, but he hasn’t. Don’t get mad when folks bring up inconvenient truths that are bizarre by UK standards.
Man...Idk...I think it's A reason, but I'm not convinced it's THE reason. Pitino and Cal could get dudes. Tubby and Clyde struggled to get dudes. That's basically been the breakdown of the last 35+ yrs. I think it's glaringly obvious, Pope is going to struggle to get dudes. The hope probably needs to be he can evaluate mid-major portal talent well enough to win big. I'm at least encouraged by the recent good play of Chandler and Garrison, but I think there's a concern about developing retained players as well. At the end of the day, if you can't recruit studs you'd better be able to develop the guys you can get.
Or...and here's a wild thought...you could just scroll right on past.
Oweh and Aberdeen’s spots were there for the taking by the elite of the elite, and no returning player was getting in the way of that, yet Pope still couldn’t close the deal!
We can gaslight all we want, UK has the worst recruiter in all the power conferences, yet has top 3-5 money to spend to offset that, and even that hasn’t helped!

While Pope is still considered to be working hard on the 2026 class, the immediate success rate has significantly decreased compared to the previous, high-volume recruiting era. He certainly has the time, staff and resources to have a very promising and successful recruiting class. Only time will tell how well he does. Finishing the season strong and how many, if any, current players decide to enter the portal will certainly be factors. I remain cautiously optimistic that next year's roster will be constructed to be capable of a final four run. Let's all hope so ...
Why even respond with such nonsense? Dude, go to any major recruiting site, like you know, on the internet, which is what Jones did, and count the number of UK recruits who said NO since Pope took over, and do the math…
I haven’t checked lately, but the last time I did, he was 0- 31(32), and it’s going up by the week!
I keep doubting Pope but he continues to do things I did not think possible. I think we land a big fish plus a portal guy, we are going to get quite a bit back imo.
I think we have to get a PG, I wanted Lowe to work out, and he still may but I don't want everything riding on his shoulder.
