Here is a list of the top scorers. Of those who will probably be coming back, who would you like to see us get from the portal ??
The guys I would send an assistant to look at or open lines of communication with their agents on. Only the last one would I throw the full court press on to land though.

Hamad Mousa from Cal Poly is interesting. I know nothing about him, looks like Kam Williams in size and stat wise but scores in volume.
Nolan Minessale from St. Thomas is also interesting. 6'5" G, not great from 3 but gets to line a lot and finishes at the rim
Daniel Freitag from Buffalo could be a good backup PG option. 38% from 3, a 4 assist, 4 rebound, 20 ppg guy currently
Jack Karasinski from Bellermine (who some might remember) 6'7", 41% from 3, averaging 20 a game. Listed as a JR but is in year 4 so don't know about eligibility.
*Christian Anderson from Texas Tech (if he went to the portal). 43.6% from 3, 7.7 APG, 19.3 PPG, and an absolute STUD. He'd be my first call the second he entered the portal.

This is a little misleading, because I think Pope is rightly not trying to recruit guys in the 12-30 range. Those guys would want to start, but likely wouldn't be good enough to help out in year 1.

didn't but ok

i think pope is an amazing coach just don't think he can build f4/championship level rosters
So, lol, you don't think he can build championship roster but you didn't say this team doesn't have talent... lol,,,, that makes sense. You think because we don't have a kid that Cal would have signed in your opinion, he can't recruit and he cant build a roster - and without getting into how that is wrong and why, there are more ways in this new day and age to build a roster than signing a HS recruit that may or may not hit

Tubby could even get a top recruit every season and he didn’t want any 5 stars and their egos and families drama. Get a Star recruit and tell them what they want to hear, once they are here coach how you want to coach them. Get them here first!
like I said... Cal has ruined this fanbase

I feel like we will have a lot players return we will need a elite point guard hopefully we can get Dink if the ncaa dont rule out all g league players
Maybe we can have Wagner transfer back to UK to run point guard as a Senior.

I don't agree with that, I could also say what Cal did wasn't getting it done and he himself had not been signing the elite elite in years. We only stayed in the top 5 each year, because we brought in 6-9 per season. Not hard to do, but none of you guys can see that. Cal had not been past the rd of 32 in 6 years..... and the people he did sign were largely in the 10-30 range and thats not opinion, you can look it up

I dont have a clue and dont what to argue with you about it. I listen to KSR every day but Matt lies all the time to get people riled up. He is a marketing genus but he is still a snake.
Probably the most Rupp Rafters comment I've ever read. Congrats good sir. I mean, it's got it all. Accuracy, inaccuracy, and defiance in response to a question about your own passive-aggressive question.

well your talking about cal like his recruiting and coaching abilities are one

coaching was the issue with him, not really the players

the main gripe about him was that he wasnt getting it done with good players

i cant even have a gripe under pope because we arent fetting jt done with average players so no crap we arent getting it done

That is fair but not quite accurate, I am also saying his recruiting wasn't much better or much different than pope. Pope has largely had to depend on the portal because Cal left him with no players.... literally- Moreno and Jasper fall into that range Cal would have went after. But I do agree with Cal was not an Xs and Os coach at all and Cal will always be a better recruiter in general, that is what he is known for, would be true of any other coach aside from maybe Dukes

pope goes for quantity over quality, sometimes it works and sometimes it fails miserably

under pope we dont really lose because we get outcoached, we lose because the other team is just better sometimes and thats demoralizing

I thought we didn't want one and dones?
We don’t need a team FULL of OAD’s. We don’t need a team FULL of transfers.

Like this season yes we needed Caleb Wilson and Acaden. We needed our transfers too. Nate Ament was needed.

We have our 9th banner if you eliminate 2 transfers and swap them out with 2 freshman Lewis and Wilson.

With Calipari we were too far in the opposite direction. Now we’re too far in the other direction.

If Mark cannot recruit freshman here at all, then I don’t know what will happen to him.

At all? Come on y’all.

Didn’t Stokes or Collins say something about “problems” after a couple of our losses? I’d think if losing matters, winning might too.
Maybe they did. Probably depends on the kid . “Problems “ could mean different things to different people. I don’t think AJ Dybantsa would have gone to BYU if “winning “ was his main concern. I don’t think Acuff would have chosen Arkansas over homestate Michigan or Michigan State if “winning “ was priority one .
[/QUOTE]

I do agree with this. I don’t think winning is the top priority of many freshman entering college. I’m sure there’s some but most no. Still think we need some tho and who knows, Mark is probably good at figuring out which ones do want to win.

He seems like he’d be good at finding the right ones.

**edit if you didn’t say that then whoever I’m responding to lol**

"It doesn't look like, absent a change, we will get any of the top 30 recruits."--Matt Jones

Just for reference and the sake of being accurate, that was the actual quote today. A caller asked about recruits and Matt JOKINGLY said "we ain't gettin' any of em." Then he made the above statement when talking seriously about it.

I know a lot of you don’t like KSR and Matt Jones, so stop reading. On the show this morning he just said, as of right now, we are not going to get any of the top 30 recruits. And that it has been 20 years since that last happened. I thought our winning might have changed that.
JMI is the reason we can’t land anyone bottom line. I don’t think this staff helps but that is a major roadblock and shows how bad it actually is.

i mikel sure helped louisville win last night with 45

and wilson and boozer averaging 20 for their teams sure help
He’s saying they care about money and the NBA and that’s it. Obviously their presence alone helps winning, but they aren’t driven by it.

Plucking Tulane's roster again for Rowan Brumbaugh would be a good add in the portal if he leaves. Plays against tougher competition in the AAC than several of the guys ahead of him not at the power conferences. I have enjoyed watching him play for the Green Wave this year.

Yeah, I know we post about recruiting all the time but it’s really about time. Somebody makes a commitment to UK. It looks like we’ve lost out on Stokes and any other top 30 recruit so can somebody please tell me who they think we may wind up getting or are we gonna have to go to the portal for most of our recruiting this year? I just saw where Calapari looks like we’ll get the signature of Jordan Smith Junior now as he has been a lot for Duke all year. I still think we are in on several good ones, but it doesn’t think we’re in the lead for any so does anyone know anything about anyone? I remember that one kid name Miikka Muurinen that we were in on but he hasn’t committed yet either in fact he may not come to college anyway but I sure would like to have him. I think he’s a 6 foot 10 or 11 inch small forward even in that size but I sure would like to get him.

I totally agree. Stokes could be nexts years Oweh if he came here. The money is there if you believe we payed $22million this year. JMI must be a major roadblock.

I was wondering about Muurinen. He is not even listed any more on either Rivals or 24/7.
Since we have lost on all of these recruits this year, why cant we put all the money for one player like Stokes or Smith Jr. I just dont get it.

A —— "As of now we are not going to get" just means we don't have anybody signed. Did anybody seriously not already know we don't have anybody signed?

B —— Yeah Pope has a recruiting problem. It's been my only bone of contention with him so far, never bought all the crap about him not being able to coach.

C —— Pope has a really big recruiting problem. Hope he can solve it.

I agree with the recruiting problem. If we get everyone back that can be back, we really only need someone to replace Oweh scoring and a point guard ( a healthy one) from the portal and our roster will be pretty much set. Hopefully over the summer, the recruiting issues can be fixed and 2027 class will be a good haul.
