I know a lot of you don’t like KSR and Matt Jones, so stop reading. On the show this morning he just said, as of right now, we are not going to get any of the top 30 recruits. And that it has been 20 years since that last happened. I thought our winning might have changed that.

Well hate to break it to you but winning a few decent games doesn’t really matter in recruiting overall. Hasn’t really honestly in last 15-20 years maybe longer but definitely not now. Pope is just not a good recruiter overall. We have to face the facts. But he will get better.

yeah he's a bad recruiter for kentuckys standards, some kids act repulsed of idea at coming here (wilson, wilkerson)

if we can't get any hs guys, we have zero excuse to not have the best portal class

You are overestimating how much importance today’s kids place on winning.

It’s a serious problem. If mark cannot recruit top players he cannot coach at Kentucky. There’s no way to offset it

You cannot do what Calipari did and go all out for freshman, you also cannot lose all freshman. We are in the middle of two extremes.

Nothing we can do about it if Mark cannot recruit them he cannot be here. He needs to figure out what’s going on and fix it now. You don’t want this kind of thing to derail you.

Can’t sign all freshman but for example if we had Caleb Wilson and Acaden Lewis this year there’s you #9. He’s going to come up short a lot if he can’t land some.

Didn’t Stokes or Collins say something about “problems” after a couple of our losses? I’d think if losing matters, winning might too.

The big question is, does throwing millions at a HS recruit matter? Do you gamble on a Peterson type, that plays when he wants, or get lucky with a Koa Pete or AJ.

Many recruiting analysts do state that the next two years of HS basketball recruiting is down comparatively.
It will not hurt as much if we retain, Jasper, Moreno, Hawthorne and mix with many transfers.

this is how i see it: the top 1-5 hs guys are going to be better than any 1-10 transfer guy

but the 30-50 transfer range is a good spot for role players

I take Matt and the KSR guys with a giant pile of salt. They’ve been wrong so many times over the last 15 years that I don’t view them as super credible.

High school recruiting isn’t looking good right now, but I don’t believe in absolutes until LOIs are signed.

I think many have forgotten that we have 12 potential returning players from this year. I know that it most likely won't happen, but most recruits will want to know who is going to return. It's a tough recruiting situation. I hope our players make quick decisions after the season.

The problem with relying on the portal, is you are getting guys who are good, but not great. We got one of the best ones in Tshiebwe, but even then we didn't do anything with him in 2 yrs. If the guys you get in the portal were great, they would be in the draft. With no freshmen studs, we will have to hope we retain everyone with eligibility and get the best of the best in the portal. That's no way to run a program though. If Pope can't fix the recruiting issue, we would have to move on.

Maybe they did. Probably depends on the kid . “Problems “ could mean different things to different people. I don’t think AJ Dybantsa would have gone to BYU if “winning “ was his main concern. I don’t think Acuff would have chosen Arkansas over homestate Michigan or Michigan State if “winning “ was priority one .

I don’t think Acuff would have chosen Arkansas over homestate Michigan or Michigan State if “winning “ was priority one .

Of course, talented Freshmen help winning games. Nobody disputes that. The point many have made is that most top-level recruits are not drawn to schools primarily because of their desire to win a championship. It is to be paid well and be prominently featured in the offense to put up numbers.

I feel like we will have a lot players return we will need a elite point guard hopefully we can get Dink if the ncaa dont rule out all g league players

This is a weird post. It has me being quoted with something I didn’t say. But you are right in that Acuff went to Arkansas (actually the university of Calipari) to fast track his NBA career. That was WAY more important that what they might win .

EDIT: And now it’s quoting you as saying something I said,lol .

No one said said they didn’t care about winning. I said he was “overestimating “ how much they care about winning.
