Team looks tired. I’m afraid not having a crowd this year is going to affect us greatly. Hope I’m wrong. Again though, we play like crap and can still go up big. That’s the mark of a decent team.

Yes, we looked tired and flat. We missed at least 10 chippies today and our offense against the zone was really off. Sometimes we got the ball into the middle and our guy hit the cutter along the baseline which is how you beat the zone. We also had a ton of open looks on the perimeter that we didn't hit. Again, the team pretty much cruised to a win today and the only takeaway is this: clean up the sloppiness.

One last comment: Hofstra is no slouch. Last year they won 26 games and are picked to win their conference this year.

We looked ugly last year early at times too without Covid and with scrimmages. No scrimmages this year. It’s also been 3 games in 5 days. Other b10 teams have looked just as out of sorts early.

Stop. Very workmanlike performance. Took care of business against a solid opponent that got off to a bad start, but never quit. Was Hofstra ever within single digits in the second half?
I don’t think anyone’s questioning the effort. More so stating that we played an incredibly sloppy game, which I can’t imagine anyone would argue. Lot of bad turnovers, blown layups, missed FT’s, etc

You’re right we should win every game by 30. Come on man, you don’t think we’re working out kinks and trying to integrate new players right now? The important thing is that every time a quality opponent made a run, we swatted them away like a fly.

Mt St Mary's led Maryland at the 8 minute mark and lost by 18. ...there are some obvious things to improve upon, but the strengths of this team from last year to this year (core group) are all better than last year. Harper, Young, Mathis, Myles and Mulcahy are all better than last year....Baker will join that group and you factor in Cliff in 3 games, getting his feet wet.

This game reminded me of Stephen F Austin last year....a grind it out game that was a 12 point win and looked "eh" at the time....turned out to be one of the more impressive OOC wins of the year last year.

Far to say, we won handily these first 3 games without sweating at all , something that hasn’t happened since the 70’s . Without scrimmages , going to get some sloppiness , but like the way we push the ball on the break and almost anyone can get a rebound and go. Foul shooting is surprising as it has been across the board with even the good foul shooters missing. Hopefully that gets cleaned up. Pike trying to figure out the lineup and what 8-9 to play out of our 11 and where to play them to their strengths. Gotta be very happy to be a Rutgers fan after this great weekend with 3 basketball wins, a ranking, the ladies demolishment of Monmouth and the Football team’s road win at Purdue. Great times ahead at Rutgers.

I saw a different game.

I thought the energy was very good. I thought our defense was very very good.

not finishing and missing FTs should not be mistaken for lack of energy.

go back and watch the game on the defensive end and watch each possession and then come back with an opinion on energy

I agree with FIG. We came out really hard, particularly on D. Lots of tired legs on offense. 3 games in 5 days when your best O is getting out on the fast break. Geo back will help but we will be ok. We are better than “decent.”

First time in my life I’ve heard that 3 games in 5 days is nothing. These players eat, sh*t and sleep basketball everyday from dawn til dusk and within that give all out effort in games. Like several have posted this game was never in doubt.

I guess becoming spoiled is a good thing.

And with no drop in performance level at all! They're as fresh at the end of game eight as they are at the start of game one! These kids could play D1 double headers every day!

The only nonsense is people like you complaining after 3 double digit victories to open the season. Give the kids a break, the team is going to be just fine.

One guy played with unmistakable energy. Has floor burns to show. You can tell Pike really appreciates what he is bringing from an effort standpoint

You cannot equate playing organized HS/College basketball with playing ball in the park. No comparison in efforts required, miles apart.

In the summer I could play all day and night all summer and be fine. Playing for HS team never mind college is way more grueling.

Young's effort on both ends is at an extreme level this year. While he sometimes loses control with the ball in his hands, it appears the entire team is currently feeding off his energy.

I believe the announcer mentioned 3 games in 5 days when Palmquist missed a layup and then mentioned freshman being worn down. It was pretty ridiculous considering the amount of minutes he has played over the 3 games.

I can get behind players being worn down if they play a ton of minutes in a short stretch of games after a long grind of a B1G season. Not really buying it when they are fresh to start the season unless the argument is they are playing their way into game shape still without the typical preseason scrimmages etc.

Don't you think that comment was more about the play of the team late in the 2nd?
