No Chemistry

The last 3 seasons have felt eerily similar to the Tubby era. When had some really good teams. We had some really talented teams. But the really good teams weren’t quite talented enough. And the really talented teams didn’t quite have the chemistry and it resulted in a long period where the program just couldn’t get over the hump.
It’s early. But this season has started off much the same. Looks like a good but not great team. We’ll probably go something like 26-8 in the regular season, get a 2 seed and get bounced by a real contender in the E8 just like Tubby’s best teams always did.
Now the disclaimer. This isn’t all on Cal. There’s things going on in college basketball right now, especially recruiting, that he just can’t do anything about. And it’s clearly had a negative impact on uk basketball despite us not being involved. But if the NCAA doesn’t do anything he’s going to have to figure out another way. If other programs are allowed to straight up buy the top players, cal’s system isn’t going to work. You can’t compete with freshman and sophomores unless they’re future all stars and lotto picks.

As a fan I understand we aren't going to win every game by 30
I've seen too many games in my life to understand when a kid has a special night in Rupp, but their team still loses.
Expectations equals future disappointments.
I'm just realistic and don't live in a fantasy world.
But we don't play anybody. Again I wish we could structure the schedule to become a team before March. We always say we always become a team at March. But think about that theory for a second? I'm all for having a losing record before January... We just have to structure a tougher schedule and learn early as a team and build.

First off, we don’t play in a “stadium”. It’s Rupp Arena, not Rupp Stadium. Secondly, wth does it mean when you play for the “jerseys on there (sic) back”? Are you trying to say they should play for the name on the front instead of the name on the back of the jersey? And last but not least, if a kid is trying to impress NBA scouts, don’t you think they would play defense as it is an integral part of the game? Fans like you, are terrible. You don’t even know what you’re bitching about yet you’re the loudest ones. Learn the game before you spout off anymore nonsense.
Different year same early year pouting that will be forgotten in a few months. Rinse repeat.
Heres an idea..I know its reaaaaalll hard...why dont you focus on the things they are doing well and then see how they work on the other things. For instance, a team hit 19 3's...AND LOST. That means they had to have rebounded, not allowed many second chance opportunities, and executed fairly well on their own offensive end.

strawman argument. I never killed anyone but I'm pretty sure its a bad thing to do. Cal has had teams come out from the gun and be world beaters. These guys ain't it...yet. Maybe they'll get there, maybe they won't. Us bitching about it won't change a damn thing. Every one of you cryin' about Cal now, will really be cryin' when he's gone.

Its not like he makes pretty much the same kind of money as Saban. Saban can luckily coach at game day and win championships and grow programs. But "bitching"? I wasn't bitching I was stating facts. If you can't stat facts on this board, then something is seriously wrong about the manner of our fans.
This. All because we looked so good during the summer. People have lost their minds. Duke is going 40-0, etc. Duke may win the title, but they aren’t going 40-0. People have lost their damn minds.

So you're saying despite a team breaking a record at Rupp, UK was good beating a Military school at Rupp. I'm trying to understand whats positive about not being able to stop a team from shooting the 3 knowingly thats the only offense they had? Like I said we have no game day coaching. We have to improve this. I'm not bashing.

Since it's the Thanksgiving season I am thankful we won another game. Look we had a kid come in Rupp tonight that was hitting just about everything he put up. He was in a zone and could not miss. It happens sometimes. UK will be fine but I don't know about some of it fans. :angry:
Thats why we need to recruit players that will stay... I don't get how people enjoy this style of ball. But you are right with the key word "time"

I cant imagine the product we’ve put on the floor the first few games sitting well with recruits. We’ve shown nothing that would impress anyone.

Just what I thought. Another blowhard who doesn’t understand basketball yet wants to scream at the top of his lungs how bad of a coach Cal is. Here’s a hint dummy, the best way to stop that type of offense is exactly the defense Cal employed. Most of their 3’s were contested. They just made them. Other times, we didn’t rotate properly. It happens. But you wouldn’t understand that from the friendly confines of your living room. Couch coaches are the best. They’re all undefeated!!

Look man, the sunshine pumpers here stick together, they are like a cult. You just have to ignore them....they were on here as soon as we lost to K State last year without their best player celebrating Cal. Defending Cal is their day job, it is what they do. In their spare time, they police this board and arrest the "bad fans"
In the Bahamas we looked like a team with chemistry.. now we look like a new team usually looks. For this team to make a run cal is going to have to do two things. Play zone defense and practice against the zone. In every sport the ability to zone and man is important to having a complete cohesive team.
The benefits
1. The team is ready to deal with attacking a zone
2. Zonal defending requires communication, support and rotations.
3. Team has ability to play zone or go man depending on matchup defensively
Too much upside to working zone in practice and playing it to not utilize it. It’s that one thing that if cal took hold of it could fix a lot of problems.
