Sorry folks, for those wanting to have an enjoyable time reading the board, the inmates are running the asylum until Monday. Hopefully, we'll win by 50 and not miss a shot. Otherwise, it will just continue. In fact, it will likely continue at least until we beat someone of some repute. Beating these coming cupcakes will mean zero to those ready for Cal to go and waiting to pounce at the first chance. If we lose another, heads will likely explode. Spontaneous combustion is not out of the question.

We've all been out on the ledge, hitting the bottle, and popping whatever pills we can find. Some have been posting for sale signs in Cal's yard, saying he's all washed up and done as the coach at UK. He can't even tweet without getting blasted. This is our reality. We want blood, maybe his first born child, or a refund of his paycheck. There is no valid reason for this loss. And I agree with that. I'm sure Cal would agree with that, also, as would the entire team. It's inexcusable.

But last Wednesday, the stat I kept seeing, on national TV and on this board, was Cal's record against #1 teams, which is the best of any active coach. I guess that has now changed? He became a washed up has been in one week. He went from being the best against the best to "it's time to go" in 1 week. Maybe it was his evil twin coaching that Evansville game. Just for the record, I'm the first to float that theory, in case it gains any traction.

I'm not sure what the answer here is, but I'm certain I'm gonna hear a thousand theories until at least Monday, and maybe beyond. Maybe I have a solution...

Let's hire Tubby or Gillispie. I hear both are available. Gillispie went to a Final Four at Texas A&M. Tubby won a title somewhere, I'm sure. Or hey, McCarty would probably come from Evansville. He's the coach du jour and is clearly a better coach based on this one game. Anything has to be better than what we've been putting up with these last 10 years, with such mediocrity. Can't make a final four, can't win a title, can't even make an Elite 8. Anyone could do better. We could keep players around longer. We could have more seniors for Senior Day. We could get to know these kids while we despise them for being losers. We could stop being their stop on the way to the NBA. It would be great. Tubby would be perfect for that, actually. His players usually stayed because they had no prospects. The grass has to be greener on the other side.

Lol.. I'm going to assume that being a moderator you have read to much of the garbage posts the last couple days and this is your way of venting.

We do have alot of knuckleheads that come out of the bushes that "enjoy" a bad UK loss so I completely understand.. lol

I think if Cal does 80-90% of things great its fair to question and criticize the other 10%.

Its reasonable to ask for them to watch game tape of other teams. To practice free throws. To fix some things on offense. To build roster depth and experience. To point those things out doesnt equate wanting ro fire the guy. He does a lot of things in a kickass manner.

I suppose its like a Yelp review. Very few people are inclined to leave glowing reviews. People have an expectation of good food and service. When an experience is poor, thats when they are more apt to speak up and express their anger.

Or perhaps a more apt metaphor is the girlfriend you just take for granted. Show appreciation for all the good things she does instead of focusing on the handful of things that drive you nuts. But some of our fans want to act like those things that drive you nuts dont exist or shouldnt be discussed.

Dont we go through this same scenario every year, or am I just remembering things..I understand your post completely and good job, and as I and you know most of the posters will be back in the pep club by seasons end...provided we dont lose a key player to injury for a extended period of time.

It’s not ok to get on social media and bash players or the coach for the world to see! How does that inspire great players to come here! I wasn’t expecting Tuesday to happen but, let’s put a little perspective on it! It’s not like we lost in the tournament to Lehigh! Stop eating your own! It’s makes look stupid to the world!

I love how any criticism of Cal (whose swag and recruiting classes seem to have made him infallible) are turned into a Tubby and Billy G criticism.

We get it. Without Cal UK would deteriorate into mediocrity and the program would lose its prominence and luster. UK would become Indiana.

No one who has any sense (or who isn’t a troll) is wanting Cal fired. Some of us just believe he isn’t going to bring UK another title (for several reasons), and games like the other night reinforce that belief while illuminating the reasons.

You usually make very good, reasonable posts, but this is just way off base, IMO. As a Mod, I am sure you read more posts than me, but I have not seen that many posts wanting Cal fired, only to change and do some damn coaching, establish some sort of offense, try some different defenses from time to time, stop being so damn predictable in his coaching, prepare the team better for the type of team he will be facing. Calipari is the easiest coach in the country to prepare for, and it is this, clog the lane, take away the dribble penetration, make us shoot threes, and play a physical defense, and any team, with much talent at all, that plays smart basketball, and solid fundamentals, can beat us, or at least be ina position to beat us, and Tuesday night proved it.

Hurling out Tubby or BCG as a replacement is not cool, and the thing is, that most of the posters that do this, supported Tubby and BCG right up to the end.

I and many other posters, for several years, wanted Tubby to change his style and get some better assistant coaches, and he refused.

What I read on here from many posters, and there are becoming more and more of them, is for Cal to right the ship, not fire him. Coach for the University, and not the NBA.

What's funny is how you and several others get the most excitement out of posting here when there's an opening to bash Cal. It's like clockwork for a bunch of you. That's FAR more pathetic than losing a basketball game in November, played by kids.

I think the evil twin thing makes sense. I think you are on to something, dang that doppelganger. Or was it coach K in a Cal suit ( any fans of the good place)? I enjoyed your witty response. You will be criticized though, that's what we do here lol.

I haven't said anything since the loss, it hurt. I sat there watching just waiting for our team to turn it on, or their team to cave. Unfortunately, so did our players, there was zero sense of urgency. We thought we had the game won (fans, players and coaches), before we stepped on the court. As bad as this one hurts and the disbelief lingers... I don't think this team, Cal or fans will make the same mistake again. Cal has a tendency to ease up on teams at a certain point, it's cost us before. If he comes out with fire in his belly, ready to destroy everyone, then watch out cbb. If he still comes out flat and doesn't try to embarrass teams, I might be concerned.

I still think we have the talent and coaches to contend, this year. I wouldn't like to switch anyone players or coaches. If you don't see potential with this team, then you don't pay attention. After the Michigan St. game, there was still work to be done. We played good defense but there were several open threes, they just missed. We weren't perfect then and we aren't now. I do believe come March, this game will be a distant memory. I think this team just gained a killer instinct and that's what we need. There is work to be done, especially for a good seed in the tournament. If they developed that instinct, they may just look like the team that was ranked number one. Let's kick some names and take some a**!!! (Yes that was intentionally done, someone will get it lol). As always, GO CATS!!!!

Not sure what we’d do around here without you. Thank you for your service.

Appreciate it man. Hopefully the miserables will get that title they think they're owed and had something to do with. lol. smh. Never forget when you, for some reason, said you wanted a piece of me and told me you were a big old boy that I wanted nothing to do with and then later in another thread you told someone you are 5'8, 200. LOL! See ya bud.

Why post this? You're just fueling the fire.

You are the resident paleontologist. Please dig up the comment that I wanted a piece of you. I’ll wait.
nothing yet?

Little did you know I’ve met a few people on this board that know I’m not a “big ol boy” so it’d be impossible for me to say that.

But my guess is that there are a few people who don’t like you on this board so you got me mixed up with someone else.

Go Cats.

Is there a way to create a list that actually acknowledges which fans want Calipari gone?

I'm tired of reasonable critique being conflated with irrational arguments from the imbecile brigade.

And which of those aren’t actually uk fans but just posing as uk fans. The born n bread account is 100% not a uk fan. There’s more I’m skeptical of but that one is obvious.

BINGO!!!

It's the PATTERN of the losses that makes losing this game especially frustrating and Cal knows it. Heck, the losses to KSU and Auburn the last 2 years in the NCAA Tournament looked EERILY similar to the Evansville loss.

All of the things you brought out in the first paragraph of your post is the whole premise behind the criticism for most rational fans.

Cal is not above criticism. he is the man in charge, it comes with the territory. He has thick skin, being doing this a long time, if he did not, he wouldn't still be a the coach at a Blueblood program, especially one that is UK. But, there is a fair / right way to do it. SOME go waaayyy overboard. But the reason they do that is to draw attention to themselves. "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, I AM PISSED AND I KNOW BASKETBALL."

50 % of the blame sits right on Cal's shoulders. He is responsible for preparation, game plan, and in game coaching.

50 % is on the players. Not saying he did, (he didn't), do all of his jobs, it is still the responsibility of the players to come out and execute the plan that was laid out (they didn't). Cal did not miss one shot, turn the ball over, fail to attempt to get a rebound, and last but not least, hustle.

Neither coach, nor players was focused for this game and it showed. It is a good thing Evansville did not shoot great, they would have ran us out of Rupp Arena. That is the part to me this I was most disappointed in. They did not play that good, we just sucked that bad.

Get it fixed. That is the responsibility of both Coach and Players. Another little thing that kind of gave me a good case of redass, Cal coming out and saying toughness was the problem. Toughness is not something you can turn off or turn on. You either have it, or you do not. But I would say lack of effort, shot selection, and game plan, and in game adjustments cost us, not some fake macho BS. The game was a finesse game, there was no banging in the post, or rough play, unless being tough somehow translates to hustle, effort, and making shots, I can't blame lack of toughness on the reason we lost.

I’ll never understand threads like these, and I think op is one of the top posters we have around here. It just cases more in-fighting, and everyone just goes around in a circle.

Yep, would be really welcomed. Maybe it's just me, but I am not great at instantly recognizing a name and remembering the profile/history/etc. I mean, some folks I know, but mostly it's just lines of text on a screen, indistinguishable. That's one point. The second point is, if we had 1000 people in a big room, and there was a portion standing and making crazy claims, it's easy to identify them - both who they are and how many. "Look at those crazy 50 folks". In this format, you can do neither. My sense is it's some small number that basically makes the board unreadable. But a list would really help - maybe buckets. 1) real UK fans who don't like Cal 2) real UK fans just venting after poor performance 3) trolls/fakes 4) everyone else
