He’s a talented player, but he didn’t seem to be a priority for us. Glad he decided to go out west to be forgotten about. It’s all about the shooting guards in this coming class. Gotta try and lock up Green and Christopher before we worry about any other guards.

I think there are a couple of reasons that is it was pretty well known that he was a strong strong lean to UCLA all along and the second reason is Nix does not have an outside shot although he can score on drives and is a Nifty passer

And that’s why I’m glad Cal Nix(ed) the idea of even extending an offer. Most definitely Cronin’s Idea to “beat out” Cal/UK for a recruit. Lol, NEXT!

Cronin probably gets asked by a lot of recruits what it was like working with Judy garland. Him committing after he narrowed his list ranks up there with Hampton screwing over the schools that he was considering, and grimes withdrawing from the draft just to transfer lol. The check must of cleared earlier than expected so nix went ahead and committed to the lollipop king

"UCLA is in “real danger” of being ruled ineligible for the tournament in 2020-21 due to the program’s APR score, according to Jon Wilner of the Mercury News. The APR is the metric the NCAA uses to gauge academic performance in college sports."

"Each school gets a yearly APR score that is then combined with past results and used to calculate a single multi-year score. When the NCAA released the new APR scores for the 2017-18 year, UCLA’s multi-year score was 933."

"That’s only three points above the cutoff for staying eligible for postseason play. Wilner provided further details on the situation the Bruins are facing."

"In the multi-year score announced next spring, UCLA’s 942 will drop out of the calculation and be replaced by the Bruins’ single-year score for the 2018-19 academic year."

Incase you’re wondering about UK:
The men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s golf, gymnastics and volleyball teams led the way with perfect 1,000 scores over the previous four years.

I guess Cal doesn't want to scare someone off and has a plan in place. Not much in the way of PGs left. I hope if we do get the big 2020 class predicted that we have a top-notch guy to lead the team at the point. Trust in Cal is all I can say. Odd how this kid said he wanted to visit UK when asked of the places he would like to visit. Cal must not want him or he would have offered. Same with Brakefield I guess. I sure hope we land the big dogs we are hoping for.

I don't think I have ever seen a guy announce his Top 5 then commit in less than 24hrs. Maybe it was to force Cal's hand. Well, didn't work, good luck in the weak-*** West. He had said he wanted to commit before the school year started so either Cal didn't want him or we were moving too slow for his liking. Either way, I hope we land one of our targets here soon and start filling out that monster class. Although I know there is a long way to go. Would like to get Christopher on board as early as possible. Some of these kids today seem wishy-washy or the whole handler thing is making recruiting get really weird.

Hell I hadn't even had time to read his "Top 5" thread before the "UCLA" one.

Have fun in the obscurity that is west coast sports.
Not picking on you, lots here post similar comments, but it’s hardly obscurity just because games start late eastern time. There’s probably like 120 million people who live in the mountain and pacific time zones.

I’m guessing Cronin knew he was leaning UCLA anyways and told him to **** or get off the pot.

I doubt he was willing to wait around and sweat out whether or not a UK offer was going to come and lose his plan B in the mean time.

One of my favorite movie scenes is the Drago-Apollo Creed press conference in Rocky IV. Drago’s trainer screams at the reporters: “Drago shouldn’t even fight this man because he’s a HAZ-Bean!”

UCLA, you are a Haz-Bean.

I also think cal would rather have a junior quickley than a freshman nix. His recruitment reminded me of kobi Simmons. I know nix didn’t show as much of a desire to be recruited by Kentucky like Simmons but I think he wanted an offer just as bad

I would love to have a Jr Quickly, but if he returns for his Junior year is he good enough to lead the talented class we should have coming in. I do hope PJ started a good trend guys returning and not thinking they are a failure if they're not an OAD. I mean look at what it did for PJ. It made him a dominant player and lottery selection instead of hoping he got into the bottom of the first round. Nowe we got EJ, Nick, Ashton, and Quick back. Hopefully, them being around each other and seeing returns keeps it going for guys not really ready. I mean how amazing would it be to luck out and have an amazing season yet return maybe 3 guys like Allen, Juzang and Quickly. That would be a nice core to go with what will hopefully be the #1 class.

It is still obscurity to most people on this board.

We got nixed.

He’s overrated.
Cal didn’t really want him.
UCLA paid him a lot of money
His mother sews socks that smell.

I’m pretty sure this is the first time ever that Cal has lost a head to head recruiting battle with Mick Cronin.

25% of the US population is located in the Mountain and Pacific time zones, so we can agree to call it "lil brother". :D

There was no recruiting battle Kev. You have to offer a kid before you lose him. Cal never offered Nix. Of course you need to express your negative view and make it look like something it is not.
