Not pump up the freshman center who hasn't played a game to be dave Remington. Not pump up the quarterback who he doesnt trust to pass.
I think by now Frost realizes he shouldn't have made that comparison. He might still believe he can be that good BUT Rimmington got to play a year of center with the freshman team. Rimmington didn't have to come out his first 2 starts with out ever having played the position before in ANY game. Athletically, Jurgens fits the Rimmington mold.

Scholarship kicker gets hurt. Backup walkon kicker tweaks an ankle. How game ready kickers are you supposed to have
Wasnt aware whats his name tweaked his ankle. Thought they played Armstrong or whoever because the other guy was very meh.

That said what the hell are we doing to our kickers? They are freaking kickers. We have them running the Oklahoma drill or something? Lol

I stepped on a rock this spring and dislocated my ankle. Sh## happens. Hopefully our luck with injuries improves because the first 2 games it hasn't been good.

There are a lot of offensive symptoms, but this is the disease. Inability to run between the tackles. Once the gears start to turn with them being able to run inside zone effectively, it's going to look like a night and day different offense.

To add to the problem, Adrian has made some poor choices and meshes on outside zone-read action. There are at least a couple plays where he hasn't forced the read man to commit and it's been a total dud. One appeared to be in overtime.

I'm not a Taylor Martinez fan per se, but his freshman year he was deadly on his zone-read mesh. He fooled me and the camera guy tons of times along with the defense and it was killer. Adrian has to be more patient at the mesh point, and I think lack of practice time with Mo and Mills both contributes to that.

100% on the money sir. Also, as you mention, TMart was awesome when healthy.

Somehow, we simply "must" be able to run the ball. Especially between the tackles (again as you mentioned). When we can do that......everything is open for us.

Really wish we could have landed a few juco interior O linemen

Getting the line up to par needs to be priority 1. With a decent line, all the skill positions look better.

We might’ve had a better chance last Saturday because I don’t know what the hell kind of kick that was. We’ve seen Dr. Pepper kickers kick a better ball...

I think they struggle vs N. Illinois Saturday. NIU played Utah last weekend and they were neck to neck in the first half. We are in for a fight Saturday night.

Ugh...more talk. Just one week, I'd love the coaches and players come out and say we aren't doing press conferences until we get our **** together. I just want them to shut the F up and play.

Not picking on you, but I find this hilarious. When Bo was coach and they did say ****, all here complained stating it was our right as fans to know! Now we have a staff that puts the info out there and we say shut the hell up. Comical when you step back and look at it objectivily. These coaches can do both since a 10 minute intervue means nothing when the team is showering.

Yep,fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Actions speak a million times louder than words. We are starting to get bits of truth from Frost, although people don't seem to like the true.

Who exactly are they trying to fool, all indication was that the team was jelling and things were looking good. Personally, I think the kids hit game one and that fear of the past couple years reared its ugly head and they went back into their shell of playing conservative. The Colorado game was more of the same and by games end the team was feeling the effect of altitude along with the fear of letting things slip again, and it did.

Lets just be patient and supportive and quit thumping our chest to the beat of, this staff should be doing this and the players need to realize piled on top of these players and coaches are frauds. my god people, we've sucked for a long time now! There is no quick fix to the hole we are in! Stability at the moment is key to this getting this turned around.

The center is a true freshman in a very critical position, more so than the other line positions! He truly has to take care of the ball and then get off the line. A lot has already happen at the point he releases the ball and he's trying to catch up. Give him more than two games to develope before he has to live up to Rimmington.

We better hope not. At this point, Husker fans should have zero faith with this staff in close games.

So those of you tired of the coaches talking, what would you prefer they do during media availability? Not answer any of the questions?

Practice what they preach for a start.

Let’s revisit all the coaches talk in regards to Martinez during the offseason and the “no fear of failure” and then watch the last 5 minutes/OT of the Northwestern and Colorado game. Afraid to throw a INT in OT. Laughing

Jurgens missing most of fall camp really set us back.

The injury to Gaylord was also big. Just a rumor, but he was supposedly going to start with MF moving inside. Farniok has been bad at RT.

They'll get it figured out, I just hope it doesn't take half the season like it did last year.

You’re a baseball fan, I presume? A guy goes 1-6 or whatever, you bench him?

Good plan.

This is a horrible analogy. You are talking 1 game worth of at bats(I presume). No I don’t bench him for that.

1 for 6 is half the season in football. If my hitter is batting .167 after 81 games...yes I’m benching him.

You only take a JUCO if they're better than what you have and we couldn't find any that fit that.

I predict that eventually Frost will be dropping "they moved around well" on us like an old pro. He'll learn quickly to undersell our prospects so that he doesn't disappoint. We'll get the old "we might be a good football team this year. We'll find out sometime before December."

Hard to imagine there weren't any JUCOs better than what we had.
Not really. Most of the JUCOs were either academic casualties or didn't get D-1 offers. We hotly pursued probably one of the best out there and didn't get him due to his academic failure. Can't do much about that.

But but but we got the number 1 JUCO center to walk on!!! He should be a star, right?

I don't get it... fans acting like the staff has fooled them with off-season comments?! Lets take a look back at some preseason Scott Frost quotes...

Scott Frost didn't include Nebraska in his preseason Top 25 for the Coaches Poll. Says "they've got to earn it."

“We’re concerned about this team. I love the progress this team has made. ... We’re better. We’re better than we were a year ago and the rest of it we’re going to have to earn.”

"We're still a 4-8 team until prove differently."

"We've got a long way to go to catch some teams in our league,"

Blame yourself for buying the media hype not the staff.

We don't want transparency, we want them dubyas!!!!
Exactly. Let's stop with all the other nonsense about press conferences and whatnot. The issue is we want to win, now. It's like when you have to write up or terminate an employee and they go around pissing and moaning about communication or how they were told. We all know that isn't the problem, it's just something to deflect to and ***** about.

Actually, I think you completely missed his analogy. When a better goes 1 for 6, that’s over the course of two games. Not half the season… He’s talking about two games here. Not 1-6 on the football field.

Practice is a lot different than a game, isn’t it? He can be fearless in practice and the coaches are saying exactly what they are seeing. The game is a different environment. Whatever the reason, he isn’t as fearless in the game. You need to quit assuming that these coaches are feeding us a line and trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

Two baseball games isn't comparable to two football games and huskerbaseball13 was absolutely right to call him out for the poor comparison.

We got Washington, and wasn't that a miracle he was even able to qualify?

We seemed to drop Bland after he didn't qualify after the fall, but doesn't he have the entire spring and summer semesters to be able to get qualified? I think if the staff wanted him bad enough, they could have found some way to get him here. We seemed to drop him after they knew they were going to move Jurgens over and Bland failed to get qualified after the fall semester.

And 2 games doesn’t equal half a season either, does it?

Edit: he still read it wrong.

I think @huskerbaseball13 was just pointing out that 2 games in football is a much bigger chunk of the season than 2 games in baseball. The comparison was just dumb in the first place and should've been pooped on by all who read it.

Edit: I didn't look at the post that Top Gun replied to, so I got the context wrong - but even taking the proper context into account, it was a ***** comparison. Should be banned for doggydoo like that.

Then let me pose the question he was attempting to ask with the analogy... do you sit Martinez because he struggled in parts of 2 games or try to let him battle through it?

I think it’s a valid question that I’m not sure what the answer is.

the analogy was forward-looking. do you think Coach Frost won't coach another close game in the next 4+ years of his tenure? we should quit on him now with a 1-6 record in close games?

he's started out 1-6, which, if you believe in him at all, is sure to improve. you know, kind of like that hitter who goes 1-6 over the course of a game or two is sure to get hot.

but, hey, poop away, smart guy.
