I’m not so sure about that. Can they run a camp, yes. Can it be affiliated with the university or it’s personnel? I don’t think so. Just another of the pitfalls in this pus filled quagmire the NCAA has used to destroy college basketball.
I would think they could be a trainer at one... I wouldn't send my son to a big man camp with only college kids running it. But, I would send to a camp that had college kids help run it...
They can run camp, but it won’t be at UK. For example, Dontaie Allen could run at camp at his HS and take home all the profits. One thing that will be interesting is I know Cal will still want yo do some UK camps with the guys working them. Timing of the different camps will be something that will need some conversation.
Those guys get paid some for those camps at UK already. They’re allowed to get a little money doing those things.
I know they are. But if 10 guys want to run their own camps and Cal still wants to do the UK camps and the father/son camp, etc….what will take the priority?
It’s going to destroy college football too. Football might be worse actually.
Yes, the rosters are huge in football by comparison. Skill players will have the upper hand. They’ll command the money. The irony being that without the line there is no football team. Some of those mooses are not pretty to look at and very out of proportion. Getting money for them may be difficult which makes for a huge inequity.
I could see at some point one or more of those guys shoving a QB’s Porche right up his ***.
It seems they need to implement a salary cap similar to the nba to keep parity for this exact reason
