Went to get lunch for my 97 year old mom and me today. Raising Cane and Slim Chicken were my options. I went to Slim Chicken. I know that Raising Cane gives buckets to the LSU Collective. I’ll be damned if I will help them out. Do you find yourselves doing the same? Does NIL become a thought in your buying decisions?

Nope. To me, life's too short to worry about stuff like that.

I wouldn’t pick Slim Chickens over Raising Cane’s if John Fourcade himself was the Raising Cane’s fry cook.

I used to. I mean I’m a guy that would purposely buy from MS based and MSU babusinesses. I moved back to the state to be a part of the solution. I would wait til inside the state line to buy gas.

I quickly found out that not many people feel the same way I do, as evidenced in this thread. It was all bullshlt.

I adapted accordingly. But make no mistake, there are other fanbases that do this at an extraordinary clip. We just don’t.

I do happen to agree that perhaps life is too short. But that’s also part of the reason our culture is…..lesser.

I can’t imagine being in my 60s or 70s and basing which fast food joint I am going to take my mom to on if one of the places supports another SEC school's athletics.

I'd be really curious to do a blind taste test for SPS and see who could really tell the difference between Cane's, Zaxby's, and Slim Chickens. My initial guess would be ~50% of SPS'ers would mix them up.

I reckon if I knew any giving to MSU collective, I would be inclined to go there often. (Please say McDonald's, please say McDonald's.)

I Hope Please GIF

I’ll go to my grave saying that the best chicken strips in Ms are served at Krazy Kay’s in Bucatunna Ms. it’s not even debatable.

The gas station on 25 near Louisville that houses the cock of the walk express. Not sure if it’s still called that but those tenders don’t play.

No. Raising canes is head and shoulders above the rest. I’m not limiting my life choices based on the university the proprietor attended.

That answer is correct. I challenge anyone heading to the beach to stop at Krazy K ‘s .
Just don’t try to get in Sunday around lunch . Line will be wrapped around the store.
On a side note , don’t pronounce their city Bucatuna, they’ll tar and feather you,

Zaxbys is so salty and slim chickens is so crappy I’m 100% certain I could tell.

Raising Canes is my go to for unseasoned fried chicken strips, so no.
Fact:

You inadvertently hit the nail on the head. Canes has the most blah chicken out there. It doesn’t compute how popular it is unless bland chicken is now the latest fad. It is curious how bland chicken came out of Louisiana.

All of it is “blah” chicken, by that definition. It’s 17ing fast food. The whole model of every fried chicken tender fast food place is to have a product that is palatable to as many potential customers as possible. The flavor distinction comes from dipping sauce, chosen by the customer. You start mixing too many random seasonings into the chicken itself (and by “random”, I mean anything besides salt), then you’re going to start alienating various customers who will never come back if the chicken itself has a base flavor that is displeasing to them.

“Boy, you can really taste the hints of garlic and oregano in the batter of this Slim Chickens tender….perfectly balanced.”

-No one, ever

Back in the mid-late 80’s, not much beat a 3 piece chicken sack with a couple of tater logs from the B-Quick right off campus next to the bookstore.
Also had a mighty fine beef and bean burrito I’d usually stop and get on Tu and Thur after class on my way to Canterbury Apts.

Only 50 percent?

Edit to add: Never been to Canes. There isn’t a convenient location near me.

As much as I dislike LSU, I would have chosen Raising Cane and bought double orders just because of the joy Todd Graves gave to me last November/December.
