I have a good bit of nike apparel that I’ve bought over the years. I’m not going to burn it. That’s just stupid. I paid money for it. With that being said, I won’t be spending anymore of my money on nike products.

I agree, I have a few Nike apparel that I won't burn, however, I won't wear these items again. Also, I told my son to get use to Adidas and Under Armour. lol

You sound like more of a New Balance guy anyways. Doubt Nike cares about losing your business. Enjoy watching our Devils win a natty wearing fresh Nike's!

I honestly think any thread that baits people into talking about politics or whatever should be locked / deleted immediately. All this thread does is slowly get personal, and will likely end bad and locked anyway... I’m so tired of hearing/ seeing the crap everywhere enough! Now I come on a Duke message board and see it..Sports are suppose to be a safe zone for this crap. If the commercial is so bad why bring that crap here...You’re basically doing the same dang thing they’re doing and complaining about...Bringing politics to sports. I get it!! it’s a stupid commercial (mostly). Whichever shoes feel / look the best I will buy them period. And pay no mind to a dang commercial. Won’t think twice about it. I don’t like the players taking a Knee or Colon, but it’s my feet and that’s all I will think about. I hate all this racial social inequality whatever crap!!!!! Petty train keeps rolling! From both sides (imo) And I’m taking mostly in general (not anyone in particular) I just try to tune out the crap., but mannnn it’s getting hard in this world!

I always kinda laugh when knuckleheads say crap like "I doubt Nike cares if you don't wear their shoes" Hey dummy, yes, they do.It's why they advertise, they need us to wear their shoes. You're probably the same guy who said the NFL wouldn't be affected by disrespecting our flag. Uhhhh it did and is. That's the entire problem in a nutshell, people forgot about the little man. But what people are finding out is, the common man DOES respect God and country and when they unite, you may have a problem on your hands.

I don't mind supporting companies with my dollars that employ the use of slave labor/child slave labor so I'll continue to buy almost all tech as well as products made by Nestlé (and their 2000 other companies they own) but I draw the line at a company that uses the wrong guy in the commercial.

When God and country unite, Christianity has lost its roots.

Dear Nike,

Permit me to introduce you to Pat Tillman, an NFL athlete who knows a thing or two about making a sacrifice for principle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Tillman

"Pat would have found Kaepernick an extremely admirable person for what he believed in,” Krakauer told The Washington Post. “I have no doubt if he was in the NFL today, he would be the first to kneel. So there is irony about what is going on.” (from his biographer)

“Those that serve fight for the American ideals of freedom, justice and democracy,” she wrote. “They and their families know the cost of that fight. I know the very personal costs in a way I feel acutely every day. The very action of self-expression and the freedom to speak from one’s heart — no matter those views — is what Pat and so many other Americans have given their lives for. Even if they didn’t always agree with those views.” (from his widow)

I always laugh at the knuckleheads who can't seem to understand plain english and grasp the concept that kneeling for the anthem is not about disrespecting the flag or the troops. It's not like he insulted prisoners of war or attacked the parents of a fallen soldier... but then again all these people burning their nike's would probably vote for him to be president at that point. Perhaps Nike knew that the loss of a handful of casual customers would be outweighed by the gains in their target demographics. Nike isn't a rookie in the marketing game. They know what they're doing.

Sorry, can't admire a guy who hates cops. Cops are pigs socks? Are there bad cops ? Yep. Should we hate them all? Nah. There's millions of them who help folks everyday, that's black folks included. If my friends Mom is mean to him, do I start hating your Mom too? I mean, she's a Mom right? Because a bad cop did something horrible, we shoot and kill other cops to get back at him? WTF? I'm all for the cause, I hate racism, but how do you fight something bad, by disrespecting something good ? Doesn't make sense to me. I'm not burning my Nike gear either, but I don't support the ad. The entire ad is stupid anyway, they show all these masters of their sports , dominating, then Colin the scrub wraps it up. I'm just tired of it all. I was the biggest Steelers fan you have ever known, right up to the day they stayed in the tunnel. Haven't even payed attention to ANYTHING NFL since. You react the way you see fit, as will I.

I always laugh at knuckleheads who don't understand what the flag represents. You seem to be one of those guys who thinks its just a piece of cloth, I on the other hand, do not.

And you sir are irrational. The left has tried to turn kneeling for the anthem into not disrespecting the flag but rational people know it is exactly disrespecting this country. If these guys hate this country so much why don't they take their millions earned by money from hard working Americans like us that respect this country to Europe and join the rest of the idiots that hate this country. Since Europe does not have the NFL maybe they could see if they could make millions playing rugby. See how far that takes them.

I agree. That's why I was excited to see this thread and I'm excited to participate.

I don't have much Nike gear to begin with because I've always thought their stuff was cheaply made. Plus, when I buy gear for a particular sport, I'm usually going with brands that specialize in that sport. Like, most of my golfing wear is Calloway, Titleist, or Taylor Made. My and my kids' soccer gear is going to be Adidas, Puma, Reuch, Uhlsport. My running gear is Saucony, Brooks, Hoka. If I or my kids played baseball, the gear would be Mizuno.

I'd say Nike's sport is basketball. I don't play anymore but my kids do. I'll just have to be mindful of what I buy them. I'm not really one of those that's going to boycott something because of who they have endorsing their product, but I've been looking for a reason to get Nike out of my life so this reason is as good as any.

I have always been a New Balance shoe guy. I do have a black Duke Nike shirt and a black Washington Redskin Nike shirt. I am not going to burn them nor quit wearing them but I have blackened out the Nike swoosh.

It's the right that has turned kneeling, a universal sign of respect, into something that's disrespectful. I can't think of a single other instance where kneeling for something would be considered disrespectful. And the right is obnoxious with their faux outrage over Kap when they gave their full throated support to a man who literally dissed veterans and their families EXPLICITLY. You lost all credibility on this issue when you supported Trump. It's the most ridiculous double standard I've ever seen.

The flag IS just a piece of cloth. I'd rather have someone stand for this country's constitution and principles than a flag any day. That's Kap's whole point. You have a man who is literally destroying every democratic institution and norm that we have, and people are this angry that one person decided to kneel instead of stand for a song? It kinda defies reason.

The black police union just issued a message supporting Kap. And there is a problem with the way police interact with these communities and it is well documented. Don't forget that the police are the STATE. He has every right to criticize them as he would any other public official.
