Tennessee is paying their 5 star QB 8 million. The kid is 6-6 and has a rocket for an arm.
Hope it works out. That is a lot of dough for an 18 yo. I wonder what their minimum expected outcome is.
Look him up. Dresses kind of funny, but thats neither here nor there.
most of the guys being paid that money, the starters, have their teams in or around the Top 10. Just statistically, it's more probable than not they'll be that vicinity by the time this guy rises to starter. Arch Manning, if I were betting Vegas Odds, will lead a top 10 team in the next couple years, just statistically. Could certainly swing and miss, which would be considered a bad investment. Kinda like Bariatric Seating. We're actively incentivizing obesity within Memorial Stadium. Take your pick on what you'd rather see. Elite QB costs a helluva lot less that Fat Seats.
Also consider that 5* QB's don't Occasionally make the NFL, they USUALLY make the NFL, and Way higher odds statistically of being a First Rounder.... which makes what UT is payin the kid currently a drop in the bucket.
Say we hypothetically find and put an elite QB on our payroll next year for Millions cumulatively... if that talent also hypothetically made us competitive in our league faster, would it have been a good investment? If it lands us in the Top 10 and a BCS-quality Bowl, does that make it worth it? There aren't any assurances, but there are really good statistics for this.
