Would add some great size, exoerience and talent to our CB depth chart. Hope we can land but he has some big name schools after him.

It will be tough to keep him from transferring to a home state school in Texas, but I know his old high school coach is high on Nebraska. We've got a shot here, especially if he wants to go to a school that's in dire need of good cornerback play.
Does anyone know why he is transferring since he started 9 games last year? I guess I don't know why he would transfer if he is a starter at a program like ND. Does he just miss home? If so why consider Nebraska?
He was injured halfway through the season and he was eventually replaced in the starting lineup, even after he was fully healthy. He’d play quite a bit this year, but he wasn’t going to start.
Seems to have been coaching turnover on the defensive side. Mike Elko was there for a year, then split to be the DC/safties coach at TAMU. Former NU coach Terry Joseph is now at ND coaching the safeties. Todd Lyght has been coaching corners at ND since 2015, but wasn't there when Watkins was recruited. Watkins' original coach Kerry Cooks moved on after Watkins' frosh year to OU.
The coaching carousel spins even harder at the assistant level.
I don’t care why he’s transferring but we could definitely take and use him. Grad transfer, so I’m assuming he can play this year? This could be a good thing if so. With any luck he could earn a starting spot and give us an instant upgrade at CB. One thing we probably offer that MAYBE the other teams can’t is the chances of starting this year. 6’1 CB and if Jackson is the other CB we will have some height out there. What is that 6’1 and 6’3 at CB??
Word from Sharpe and Benning is that the staff likes Bootle to be a starter but the other spot is open.
Well either way, assuming we can get Watkins. Having him, Bootle, L Jackson and E Lee at CB, we should have some experienced CBs and some great height to go along with it. Maybe adding Watkins is justbthe ticket we need for the mix of talent there.
