The article says he was not. According to the Houston board, there’s also been some bad blood between the Young’s and Houston around dad’s dismissal and the older brother’s transfer. I guess dad sued the school at one point?

Was his dad one of the former Houston players at a "reunion" of sorts with the former NC State players at a bar that was featured in the ESPN (I believe) documentary about Jim Valvano + NC State's improbable march to the NCAA title in 1983?

Thanks.

Very weird. Apparently Michael Young was reassigned from his job with the basketball program to a no-show job. Young said he didn't want to be paid for doing nothing. Young also said that he was told that he would continue to be paid only as long as his son Joseph remained on the Houston team (Joseph transferred to Oregon).

Michael asked for his contract to be canceled and payments to stop. Houston refused to cancel the contract and kept sending checks. So Michael sued. He wasn't asking for money. He was asking for the money to stop. He wanted the contract canceled.

As far as I can tell, the lawsuit was dismissed on a jurisdiction technicality, and the Houston canceled the contract.
