All offensive and defensive PI calls can now be challenged...this would have helped the saints last year and i tend to agree with it.. just dont want to see the game dragged out any more than it is...thoughts

Good grief. How long will the games be now. I think the refs just won't throw the flag. Imo, there's more opi that is missed.

Pace of play was already garbage, so I really dislike this. It's also a slippery slope to go down - might as well review every play now.

Might have to for as crooked as the refs seem to be. And the replay official, in college, is too busy eating chicken wings to pay attention.

This new rule would not have helped the Saints since the issue there was a non call, if memory serves

It’s the lesser of two evils:

1). A potentially game changing wrong PI call.
Vs.
2). Another stoppage in play.

I vote for #2

Now if this were basketball and a personal foul could be challenged, the game would be challenged every other possession. So difficult to get it right by the referees.

If I understand, even non-calls can be challenged. But you're still limited to the number of challenges.
I am in favor that as long as your challenge is correct, you shouldn't lose it. Shouldn't get penalized for amissed/wrong call. Same goes for Vb challenges in my book too.

They need to get rid of DPI on underthrown passes. If the QB can't throw it that far, the defense should not be held responsible. The worst call in all of football, outside of targeting.
It's a good example of the game outpacing the rules. Happens in every sport. Players and coaches are smart. They know how to exploit the rules. It has always been this way.

I don't disagree with you, btw. Just making a statement. I see it in college basketball every year. It's an ebb and flow trying to ensure the game is played the way it is intended to be played without over-legislating.

Hopefully it is limited...such as one PI challenge per half...and it counts against your overall challenges if unsuccessful...and the non-called or incorrectly called PI must be clearly/obviously an error. If it is more expansive than that I think it is a HUGE can of worms being opened...

There is only 2 challenges per game now and with new rule so no real change in pace of game burn thru those and you are out of luck. NFL games are a lot faster than college games.

Every play reviewable in the last 3 minutes. What happens in the last 3 minutes ? lots of passes and close plays. This will add 30-45 minutes to a game with every pass being reviewed. Have you ever seen an incomplete pass where the receiver doesn't come up looking for a flag?

Terrible rule. In my opinion each coach gets 2 challenges per game of anything including holding and offsides. But no other reviews. That makes a max of 4 a game of any play.

I still say if you are right you get to keep challenge. Offsets getting hosed.

Wouldn't it be simpler to adjust the pi rule that say the db can't touch the receiver until the ball arrives instead of jostling all the way down field, and a receiver can push the db out of the way either. See most of gronks pass routes for that example

I like the way the college game handles reviews where basically every play is reviewed and the game is only stopped when necessary.
I just think the time they stop play for review should be deducted from other tv timeouts. Something to balance it out.
