North Carolina tied with the state of Virginia for third when it comes the number of former high school football players drafted in the 2018 NFL draft. Florida is number 1 with 34 of its former high school player’s drafted. Texas and California tied for 2nd with 27 former players. North Carolina and Virginia followed with 14 players from their individual states. I see this trend continuing for NC for the next several years because the state is turning out some great football talent. How many are surprised by these numbers?

Charlotte Metro had eight selected, seven from NC, five from Meck County itself. Thought Riley Ferguson would be Butler's second player selected this year but the QB did not get selected.

It’s amazing after watching some of the guys perform on the high school level to see them get to the league. If Dexter Lawrence decides to enter draft early than there is a good chance that North Carolina can produce the overall #1 draft pick in 2019.

Btango, do you know whether he was invited as a free agent for any team? Thought he had a chance to be drafted also.

NC High School football has been one of the top areas in the country for the past several years. We are typically in the top 7 for recruits. It was awesome to see all these former Tarheels drafted last weekend! Great job coaches!!
