NU needs to return to the point of putting 5-6 guys back in the NFL yearly. When LJ is our main guy to be picked and he isn't listed in the top 100 that isn't good enough. Listed as biggest sleeper. Iowa and Purdue have 2 guys in the top 100 along with Wisconsin with 3. NU has to be recruiting, retaining and developing guys every year and putting guys back in the NFL at least on par with Iowa and Wisconsin. OSU is on another level from the rest of the Big 10. Win the West first then see what happens. Our 2 best guys from last year didn't EVEN get drafted. Ozigbo and Stanley.

And anyone who says recruiting and stars don't matter look at the top recruiting classes yearly. Alabama, OSU, Clemson, Oklahoma, etc..then look at how it translates to wins and NFL talent. NU has some incredible young talent from last years class and this years class. Have to now retain and develop. Doesn't matter if you get a bunch of 4 stars and then half the class leaves Like Bo and Riley's top classes did. GBR

Something is terribly corrupt when Alabama has freakin 9 in the top 32, 13 in the top 100.

People can talk facilities, location, relationships, etc blah blah blah (not saying all these are bad) but these kids want to get to the NFL and will go where they think they have the best shot to get there.

Every week I read the "Midlanders in the NFL" piece and there isn't much to get excited about if you are a Husker whereas Iowa has a rather lengthy list of contributors.

There is secret formula to all this, it is stated above - recruit highly rated players - note HIGHLY rated as in 4-5* and then DEVELOP them. Right now, I am not certain we have a lot of evidence of the developmental piece but realize it has only been two years.

Looks like a pretty good draft class this year. QB, RB, and defense is pretty strong. This has to be the best WR class ever. So many good ones and seems to be a position that's gaining importance both at the college and pro level.

This guy may be missing out on some players. There's seemed to be a ton of guys drafted from FCS or smaller level schools in recent years and this analyst didn't list hardly any of them.

Biggest thing is we return most of our guys. We lose Lamar Jackson, Mo Berry, K and C Davis, Darrion Daniels, K Noa, A Davis, D Neal and I think that’s about it...we return everyone else. Not going to have many draft picks when most our guys return.

Get a better feel for those guys after the combine I would imagine.

Lamar Jackson will get drafted for sure, no questions asked. It’s a matter of how high. I still think Darrion Daniels will get drafted too. Maybe on the lower end. The C and K Davis will get free agent deals no doubt. I’m still have torn that Khalil Davis getting drafted the final days....one way other another, he will make a team.

Iowa and Wisconsin would be flat out be scary good if they recruited the talent Nebraska does.

First things first - let’s get better than Minnesota, then Iowa, then Wisconsin. We blow all of them out in recruiting, so that is not an excuse against them. Let’s hope coaching and development happens.

Stars are overrated. Iowa and Wisconsin excel at their own scouting and not relying on national rankings. Ferentz was quoted as stating Scherff and Wirf were both 5 stars in their books, both were 3 star recruits and lightly recruited. Scouting agencies don't cover the midwest as closely as they do the coasts and players get over looked.
I was just looking at the players that were all All-Pro in the NFL for the Hawkeyes and most were lightly recruited. Sure, Iowa would take 5 stars all day (Epenesa), but most are going to be lost to the blue bloods.

TE George Kittle (San Francisco) - 3 star WR
OL Marshal Yanda (Baltimore) - 3 star CC transfer
DB Desmond King (LA Chargers) - 3 stars
DL Mike Daniels (Green Bay) - 2 stars
DB Micah Hyde (Buffalo) - 2 stars
OL Brandon Scherff (Washington) - 3 stars
TE Dallas Clark (Indianapolis) - 2 stars
LB Chad Greenway (Minnesota) - 3 stars
DL Aaron Kampman (Green Bay) - 3 stars
PK Nate Kaeding (San Diego) - 2 stars
DB Bob Sanders (Indianapolis) - 2 stars

Ferentz was quoted as stating Scherff and Wirf were both 5 stars in their books, both were 3 star recruits and lightly recruited. Scouting agencies don't cover the midwest as closely as they do the coasts and players get over looked.
I was just looking at the players that were all All-Pro in the NFL for the Hawkeyes and most were lightly recruited. Sure, Iowa would take 5 stars all day (Epenesa), but most are going to lost to the blue bloods.

TE George Kittle (San Francisco) - 3 star WR
OL Marshal Yanda (Baltimore) - 3 star CC transfer
DB Desmond King (LA Chargers) - 3 stars
DL Mike Daniels (Green Bay) - 2 stars
DB Micah Hyde (Buffalo) - 2 stars
OL Brandon Scherff (Washington) - 3 stars
TE Dallas Clark (Indianapolis) - 2 stars
LB Chad Greenway (Minnesota) - 3 stars
DL Aaron Kampman (Green Bay) - 3 stars
PK Nate Kaeding (San Diego) - 2 stars
DB Bob Sanders (Indianapolis) - 2 stars
Quality players no doubt but how many Big 10 and or National titles you win with those guys??

Stars are overrated. Iowa and Wisconsin excel at their own scouting and not relying on national rankings. You don’t think every college football team has their own rankings, just Iowa? I can guarantee you no college program in America is relying on national recruiting services for their player evals. Iowa gets 3 star players because that’s who they can attract. They put some of them in the NFL, because they are good at developing players.

I think Big Red Rules stated just this. This list does go back a few years tho.
