I've been playing with numbers: NFL draft picks and win totals. The strongest (negative) correlation I found was number of draft picks over a three-year period and the next season's win total (-0.8).
Example 1: We had ten players drafted between both 2011-2013 and 2017-2019. We won six games in 2013 and 2019.
Example 2: We had seven players drafted between 2012-2014. We won ten games in 2014.
We had 14 players drafted between 2018-2020, four more than the three-year period ending 2019. An increase in the three-year moving total of draft picks has been followed by fewer wins the next season. Hopefully, we break that trend in 2020.
