Outside of Oregon, Ohio State and Indiana it looks pretty manageable. If we keep improving Indiana will be going down. Team will already have it circled after the crap talk (deserved) Cignetti pulled after the game the weeks after.
Those are 3 teams currently in the top 10. We have none of those this year. I don’t think Indiana is going anywhere. They have a bigger NIL purse than us. Maryland will be better next year. Washington is always solid. At Iowa is never easy. Hopefully Illinois comes back to their historical mean.
I was being a little sarcastic as it’s definitely tougher but our team is really young and assuming we keep our core together we have a lot more improvement capacity than teams that are already at the top. Should make for some exciting games next year.
Not sure that's true about NIL being bigger at IU. The bigger spender isnt always the bigger bank account. Id look for DONU to ramp it up. They spend on avg players. Getting results will encourage more spending. Top 5 class for 27 and another top 5 portal class this year is my guess.

I’d say this: Indiana is rumored to have spent close to $30 million for their roster this year. If (IF) Nebraska has a bigger bank than them and is choosing not to compete at that level, then I’m very disappointed. Rhule alluded to having to pick what positions to pursue top portal players from and that he couldn’t get everything he wanted. If our collective had the funds but wouldn’t let him spend them then we have bigger issues

Sort of. They have two really big boosters that they can call but that is a little different from the traditional NIL collective.
Yeah, rumors are he is into it but not super into it. My guess and this is just a guess, but as he gets older and starts to care "less" about his businesses and politics and when his kids are all grown up and out on their own...he will become a HUGE force for the Hoosiers.
At first he needs to maximize what he does have. No excuse that we can't make the playoffs with what we do have.
The point is there is no cap on what schools can spend and this is turning out to be just like free agency in the NFL and if you want a winning NFL roster you pay for it. The price tag for winning national championships is only going to go up until a cap is put in place and that's why I posed the question, who will put a cap on it.
Considering heading into this year, had NU signed 2 second team All BIG caliber OT's and 2 second team All BIG caliber DT's what does that do for this overall team? How much can that be had for, $ 5M? The money is the easy part, the right caliber players are the issue.
You need 1st team caliber types and they demand a boat load. If money is the easy part then why can we only bring in 22-25 million when the head man at Nebraska who knows the numbers says it takes between 35-40 million. If all you want Nebraska to be is an average middle of the pack team then the money Nebraska is bring in will do just fine because the NIL budget for player rosters is not going to go down it's only going up.
Well, to put it in context, last year Ty Robinson was a 3RD TEAM all BIG player. You think game in and game out he was easy to deal with? Put another equally talented DT next to him, now how easy is it to run the ball on NU?
I'm not going to go back and forth on this with you but wouldn't you be happy if we had the same or even in the ball park amount of money to spend on players as the big boys? If you're fine with where Nebraska NIL currently sit's then that's fine for you, but I wouldn't mind seeing our NIL fund increased substantially and then watch Nebraska finally get this program off the mat.
That's a stupid point. We're paying $20-30 million for a winning roster and minimum expectation should be playoffs.

Honestly, I don't care cause it's a football game. I've watched NU since 1962, so I've seen them at their greatest heights. It's become nothing more than panhandling for more and more money for this, more money for that. There's never an end to it.
