Who do you hope stays and why?

Summerville he has upside and will get stronger leaner and agile.

Everyone else is either bad or unknown. Pike has made a mess.

I think you need some semblance of a returning core to start with. We have enough evidence that flipping the roster annually is not working. But in reality, we probably return three to five guys at most.

I hope that Sommerville, Derkack and Grant return. Ogbole, JMike and Dortch are also eligible to return. Ace and Dylan as well 🤪🙃

Williams has another year of eligibility.

Derkakc will probably start next season ... Sommerville also (gonna guess NIL will be a factor for Sommerville) ...

If all stay (not Harper or Bailey, of course), BEFORE any portal transfers - expect to bring in a WF/G shooter and reasonable defender at 6'4" to 6'6" (a 3 and D?):

C/PF: Ogbole, Sommerville, Grant and the 2 frosh 6'9" Ware (think Sommerville style, not as highly rated) and 6'8" Nwuli (athletic - but stock had been dropping, I think because of offensive skills not showing as much)

PG: Davis and the frosh Lino Mark (his tape looks really good)

2G/WF: Williams, Derkack, Dortch, and the frosh Powers (looks like a potential scorer)

That is 11 ... figure at least 1 portal add, maybe 2 ... expect NOT all 7 of the non-Harper/Bailey potential returnees do actually return.

They will all hit portal and take biggest offer. Roster impossible to predict. Probably will be bad.

I hope the guys that can stay stay and we bring in pieces to construct an effective roster.

If we are limited to everyone returning who is eligible to return plus the incoming freshmen we'll be average at best. If Pike doesn't return we got a chance.
Worse than average because Rutgers is at the bottom of the B1G Ten rankings with Bailey and Harper.

Dortch and Grant will have zero playing time tape to market themselves to go elsewhere. So unless they are real unhappy that that got zero run and have a strong relationship elsewhere, they should be back.

Lathan would be our most talented returning player and would be the offensive focus. But I can see him getting SEC NIL money

Desperately need to bring in experienced transfers in scoring and shooting next year if we are to compete, HIGH Major transfers! Cam Spencer is only low level guy that panned out

Only player from the current roster that I see as a “ probable “ return for next year is Dercack given the local connection.

Would like to see Lathan and Ogoble return but NIL $ for big men are huge as we saw last year !

Hopefully Grant and Dortch return but that may only occur if staff thinks they can contribute.

Can see JMike return as Pike values his defense.

Agree - This is pretty spot on.

At this point get back to defense first now, and do what you can daily to re recruit Lathan, Grant and Dortch for next year.

To this point, Sommerville, Grant and Dortch need to get meaningful minutes this rest of this year. NIL $$$, will be important, but so is pride. If these 3 think that this is "their" team, perhaps that influences their decision to stay at RU.

Despite my other posts about Hayes, Martini and Acuff - this 100%.
Said the same last year.
If the season is over, play guys who might be here next year.
Problem is that 2 of our "young players" are also gone.

Acuff, Hayes, Martini, Ace and Dylan are gone.
Williams, Davis and Derkack would still get most minutes - which is why we are in this situation in the first place.

Just don't expect the team to get better.
This is about preparing for next year.

Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey (lol)

Oh I didn't mean don't play them.
I wrote that very poorly.

Obviously they keep playing.
I was just including them in the list of players leaving.
Even though we only have 3 seniors - it's actually 5 players leaving.
