Not necessarily. We will have the majority of this team back, at least a couple of transfers and some freshmen to bolster up our deficiencies. We will be a lot better next year
Majority of our team back? You must not have been a fan of UK under Cal for very long. It's not happening.

IMO the roster needs four in the front court, five on the wing and two lead guards. I’ll go...

PG - Hickman and Askew
Wings - Powell, Allen, Boston, Toppin and Mintz
Front Court - Oscar, Collins, Hopkins and Brooks or Ware.

Brooks is the wild card. Don’t have any feel on what he’s going to do. He doesn’t really have draft stock, so really hope he sticks this out. If he comes back, Ill say Ware goes. If Brooks goes, Ware stays.

PG remains the biggest question mark. Our roster could be ELITE but won’t matter unless we get much improved point guard play.

30 wins, minimum. Elite Eight. Possibly Final Four. Calipari will be performing like his career, his legacy and his ego depends on it.

Oscar, Collins, Toppin with a huge leap forward. Clarke and Powell at PG, or someone we don't know about now. Unless Hickman convinces Cal without doubt he is the answer. Askew is much improved as a back-up PG. Plus some strong supporting pieces, including Allen, Ware and Hopkins.

I think the interest in TyTy Washington could be an indicator that Mintz is gone. Even if we got Washington, I think Cal would still go after another PG via the transfer portal, just to have an experienced playmaker.

I like what I've seen from Washington and I hope we get him. It was painfully clear this season we need better ball-handlers and creators, and Washington and Hickman both shoot well enough to play off the ball. Add in another veteran guard alongside Powell and that's a stout incoming backcourt.

Powell and Hickman will split time at point. Powell is a proven college point guard.
So your convinced:
A. UK lands him and
B. The SEC allows him to play next season without sitting out a yr.

I say yes on A. and no on B.

I hope I’m wrong, but it’s possible we hav another bad year. No impact player coming in to address our need. If we could possibly add Hardy, I think it would change everything about next year, but it looks like he is going to the G league.

My guess:

Starters

G Askew
G Allen
F Toppin
F Tshiebwe
F Collins

Bench

G Hickman
G Transfer/recruit
G Transfer/recruit
F Hopkins
F Ware

Mediocre season. 20+ wins. Make the tourney. First weekend exit.

That’s a realistic look.

I agree but it will take “alot” of bad luck to have 8 Ls by a total of 19 points and you can bet UK will not have a top 15 SOS next season either.

I think we will squeak into the NCAAs and probably win 1 or 2 games.

If Mintz, Boston and Clark stay? Are we too 10?

No. We won't be a Top 20 team. Or 5th best in the SEC. The key is getting everyone back you can and add a really good guard pg and get good around Feb. They do that they go to 20-25 best team. A 4-6 seed and may get into the Sweet 16.

But to do that Cal will have his work cut out.

We need an elite superstar guard to be a contender again.

If Cal could pull off bringing Jaden Hardy in, then we would be back in business.

But that’s not happening.
