When was the last time Rutgers basketball had two outside shooters like that?

Yes Shields and Douby for sure but no one with the size of Gavin who has all around game. Hodgson was a spot up shooter, couldn’t really create or shoot off dribble real well. I’d put Hollis and Sellers in there, but those teams won on fast breaks and drive and dish…

Next year will be exciting!

Assuming we finish the season strong enough to dance , and win a game or two in the NCAA

And

If cliff comes back next year …we could be stsrting off the national rankings arojubd 15 (if we win one NCAA game ) and a top ten ranking if we make the sweet 16

Yes! He has one more year and I don’t see him leaving Rutgers as long as Pike is here.
Plus didnt the NCAA just institute legislation that you have to sit out a year if you transfer a second time? I think it goes into effect next year

And wow, Jaden Jones was lights out from deep in hs too. Oh wait.

It’s very premature to start comparing. C’mon now.

Sounds like RutgersAl talk, with Wimsatt being a Heisman contender by his junior year. Please. Embarrassing.
Gavin is much much higher rated than Jones was

Gavin is widely regarded as one of the very best shooters in the class if not THE best shooter

You don't seem to get the level of talent Griffiths is bringing to Rutgers. He’s not just a shooter. He is the best all around polished offensive prospect I've seen commit

Jaden was a very good shooter from deep, he just rarely saw the court due to his need to develop the other parts of his game.

As for it being too early to make comparisons, that’s partly what these boards are for. But why let a good opportunity to rain on someone’s optimism go to waste when negativity can flow oh so freely.

The Jaden Jones talk begs a good question…what’s the power rankings of historical Rutgers theoretical shooters?

1. Calvin Wooten (actually was good until Douby robbed him of PT and confidence?)
2. Justin Goode
3. Mike Williams
4. Oskar
5. Austin Carroll
6. Issa Thiam
7. Peter Kiss*
8. Justin Sofman

Who am I forgetting?

You can‘t put Mike Williams on any negative list. In addition to how hard he played he scored 1100 points and averaged 4 rebounds a game at 6’2”!

Fair. I love Mike Williams as a player. IIRC, he may have been overhyped as a shooter because he was brought in to replace another recruit who decommitted who was supposed to be a big time shooter.

I've mentioned it before.

If Gavin is as good as some projecting (Big Ten ROY level), going to be interesting how long he's here.

Sounds like he could potentially play himself into a one and done player.

Gavin could very well end up being the best RU player of all time. He is that talented.
I guess we should put him in the RU Hall of Fame already ? 3000 career points a strong possibility ? I heard he’s a 125 % foul shooter and can dunk standing still from the three point line.

You guys are ridiculous. Only time will tell.
