I hope he does, but it is hard to imagine there will be a better WR “available” and there will be a lot of big schools with new coaches looking to spend big NIL money they just got as a condition of being hired.

The other thing that worries me is our QB situation compared to potential suitors, though a positive is that Ciarocca’s offense has suited him and given him a lot of exposure.
There may be some part of how Duff feels with Surace during practices or if we go out and grab a big portal QB. But, Duff already has a ton of film for the NFL and his size.
I don’t think anything outside of injury hurts his draft status next year.
Does he grab an extra couple hundred grand for the year to move on or stay. As I said previously, Greg does a good job of finding kids and families that are not here just to be hired guns.
I am also guessing Raymond may get some NIL offers as well.

UConn has won a total of
26 national championshipsacross all sports, with the majority in women's basketball (12) and men's basketball (6). Other championships include five in field hockey, three in men's soccer, and eight in women's soccer. This state supports their teams, I guess it’s easier when you have a winner an an attitude of winning.

Another word besides attitude is expectation. And also accountability. UConn expects winning and strives for it. We give raises and extensions for achieving nothing. Easy money for the Grifter. Pace the sidelines with a clipboard with drawings of flowers and smiley faces, make mean faces, scream at the refs for things that are irrelevant to the losing, and then say ‘back to work’ at the presser.

That’s all he is. A phony.

So if you beat "numerous top 25 teams" it's a pass to have a losing season, including with 2 top 5 draft picks?

What do you mean a pass????

Yes. Coaches that have showed success have better job security when things go sour.

It’s funny you’re only choosing to focus on Pike’s last season..as if the last 8 are irrelevant.

Wrong
Duff, Black, possibly Strong are not 3 new receivers.
Allen will be good too.
Don't know who our receivers will be, every year you have to retain your players especially the good ones

Why exactly would you extend someone that no one is coming after…as In ever? If he gets an extension, KELLI should be fired immediately for gross negligence.
Why in the blue hell would he get an extension in 2023 after his first winning season (7-5… not even 8-4) in year 4 of an 8 year contract?

Agreed…it would just :eek:me…different AD who is hopefully not banging anyone on her staff…
I’m not the guy whose job is to run this board and posts Rutgers news. So idk what’s allowed to be talked about or not on the Free Board.

I think I’m allowed to say NOTHING IS A SURPRISE AT RUTGERS ATHLETICS. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hopefully this new athletic Director has a fresh take on how things should be run… And comes from a place where athletics are highly valued so here’s hoping

I actually think Duff stays. He will get paid but there is one thing that Greg does do well, find the kids and families that respect Rutgers in general beyond just the game.
I believe both Duff and Strong had big offers of NIL this year and did stay.
Will be surprise do you know how many team are gonna come after him. We won't be able to match the $$$ and it hard for a
player to go through 2 losing seasons and be looking at a 3rd.

You missed my point on the type of kids and families Greg is actually good at recruiting.
Duff will also get paid here…but does 100k extra make it worthwhile to change?

Sure look at the last 8! Made the NCAA’s and panicked costing us the Houston game and sweet 16! Made play in game and lost to an inferior ND! Completely melted down and missed NCAA’s and then lost 1 game of NIT as the 1 seed at home. Has missed any post season play every since culminating in his worst season with 2 lottery picks!

Any other power 4 program Pike would be gone!

I’ve been following RU football since 1962, and a RU grad 1972. We are not a Big 10 team and never will be our fans are more mouth than money. I’ve donated every year since 1972, in hopes that improvement would occur. Other than a handful of successful years RU has never been able to compete at a high level. Money is the answer and most people on this board are too cheap. That’s why they went to RU in the first place. Great education but no loyalty to the university and the sports teams. it’s time for me to move on, at least living in CT I have Uconn sports to watch, even their football team doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.
If you just invested that money since 1962 you could have donated a fortune to RU these past few years. Poor planning gramps.

Ok. So he had one tournament win, one play in loss, an NIT loss and I would say we should have been in 20. This is different from GS having one bowl win and 2 losses and one other likely bowl himself in 20 in what way exactly?

Not to mention...we didn't have any top 5 players in football, never mind two of them.

I hope my sarcasm meter is working properly.

Oh no he's for real...he has always had a weird obsession with GS, much like most of the rest of his detractors.

In the abstract, an argument against both for "not winning enough" that wouldn't fly at 3/4 of the P4, ignoring money, it makes sense. But the argument against just GS and looking past last season in bball is something.

How is Pike's postseason record any better than GS?

The difference is we beat top 25 teams with pikiell. Thats coaching.

we don’t beat top 25 teams with Greg.

so would Greg!
In any other FBS Program any Coach that goes 14-37 in his Conference Games would have been fired a long time ago. The imbecile Hobbs set this Football program back a decade with his idiotic, unearned Contract extension for Greg. All RU fans can do now is endure the laughingstock embarrassment the Football Program has become again and hope Keli can fix it sooner than later.

Yet when I travel almost anywhere in Connecticut, I barely ever see a UCONN bumper/car sticker.

Have relatives in Connecticut. Agree with respect to football, but BOTH the men's and women's hoops teams are well supported

at least we have a good basketball coach that can actually teach and coach them.
Nope. Good Coach and Pikell should NEVER be in the same sentence if he couldn’t get Rutgers out of the B1G first round with TWO Lottery Picks.

Right, so cares about losing to UMass and Kennesaw State as long as there's a top 25 win in there.

LOL

yes ive said that plenty of times. Even about football.

id rather have a coach that can beat top 25 teams occasionally. Have a good season here and there - and occasionally bad seasons. As opposed to a coach that has 7-6 seasons his whole csreeer and csnt seem to win big games.

pikiell is the former. Schiano is the latter

I'd actually go to the Wishbone offense & spend money on Defense instead of a Pro-Style QB. We seem to be able to find good RB's & just need to find a few guys who can play QB in the Wishbone and spend heavy on Defensive players. That's how I would proceed. It saved Alabama, Oklahoma & a few more in the 70s - Back to the Future.
