Our best case scenario for next year is Tshiebwe (possible) and Sharpe (unlikely) back. If Cal finally listens to Chin and plays four true perimeter players around Tshiebwe, then we could have something. Wallace, Fredrick, Sharpe, and Livingston around Tshiebwe. Wheeler, Toppin, and Collins off the bench. Ware playing spot minutes behind Tshiebwe again. I think that might work.

I agree with you about the type of lineup I would like to see starting. If Sharpe doesn't come back, then I would be going all out for no less than two of the best shooting 2Gs in the transfer portal, with one preferably around 6'5" (but I would take a smaller 2G to play SF if he were the more skilled/better shooter). I'm not opposed to a more traditional SF, but only if they're a very good 3 pt. shooter with a quick release. No athletes who can't shoot or spot up shooters who can't play.
You're so right, we should be happy with 35-24 over the last two seasons with 1 missed tournament 9-16 season, and a loss in the first round to a 15 seed.
Is there an NBA lockout coming this offseason? Because that's why Lamb and Jones stayed. And by the way, they went to a FF that year, unlike this team who flamed out early to The Peacocks.
My comparison might not be the best one, but I was just thinking in the terms of play style. Livingston is a slasher that can shoot the 3 decent. At 6’6 220, that’s a player who won’t be pushed around. I’m very excited to see him in a blue and white next season.
I’m not an expert man I’m just telling you that the guy isn’t elite. Doesn’t mean he won’t be good.
I want multi year players that want to play college basketball for UK. Not players that use Uk as a quick stepping stone, not players that view being there longer than a year as a failure, not players that refuse to play (while having no problem taking the benefits offered our players), and not transfers from mid majors that have one year of eligibility remaining.
Why would a shooter come here after what Cal has done with the ones he’s had? If you can drive the ball and finish or get fouled this is the place for you. If you’re a spot up shooter relying on an offense to get you looks, look no further than what he’s pissed away.

We will hope like you do. That we can have one damn run we're we get it done. But if we flame out again? What then. You be fedup to, I'm sure. We all want to believe bro. It's getting extremely hard. Wick is running out. We giving Cal way more leash than Tubby. What do you expect from all of us. Tubby was a damn good coach, mediocre recruiter. Cal is opposite. We are hurt. We all latched to Cal, and we all wanted him to be the greatest to ever coach ky. We truly believed it could happen. It's been hard to keep hoping, hoping. I myself still believe he can do it one more time. But I also know it probably never happen. It's gonna take perfection.
Livingston was just picked as one of the three finalists for Gatorade National POY.
What is his best attribute? If I knew that I would have a good idea if he will be good here.
I hope the plan is for Wallace to be our primary pg and limit the minutes of wheeler. Not as bad as askew but this experiment failed. We need a good combo guard in the portal but I know a lot depends on what Sharpe does
Livingston is a great high school player. UK is lucky to get him - especially if he's not OAD. I think in 3 years he'll likely be a 38% 3pt. shooter and a terrific SF. The question is: When that happens where will he be playing?
What I want in a SF might not be what others think is best. It's just my opinion. But I want a SF who can shoot well from the perimeter. They don't have to take a ton of shots from there in my mind - especially if you have a 2G & PG who shoot very well - but I want teams to have to guard him out there or get burned. I don't think that describes Livingston at this point. Maybe as a sophomore he would be that. But next season I would prefer him playing at PF where, again in my mind, 32% probably works ok because he won't be needed to take a lot of those perimeter shots.
Why does Cal have to have weak offensive players littered on the roster? Why does he not recruit all good offensive players and go from there?
Maybe it's just a reflection of how things have traditionally been done. Coaches, of course, generally seem to always try to get the highest rated players. But many of those are so highly ranked due to potential (i.e., someday) rather than current skill development. And in general, I don't think any freshman is nearly developed well enough offensively anyway. But in the old days you would have that kid on your roster until he put everything together. With OAD and now even the transfer portal that doesn't happen that much today.
Heard Clark said privately there were two reasons for his decommit. One was he was having second thoughts about playing for Cal and the other was worried about Wheeler coming back.
Cal has outperformed Tubby in so many ways. Double the FFs and EEs. Cal also had a NC and 4 FFs along with two 38 win seasons in a 5 year period. All this with a total win percentage of .783.
