Meyer as head coach and Briles as an analyst would certainly get tongues wagging.Art Briles should be brought on an offensive analyst. Baylor regularly had one of the top rushing teams with him, they also broke the bowl rushing record NU set of FL.

Nah after you guys left, a 99 year term was put into place with an exit fee that is the equivalent to two years of media rights. Right now that is $80M if a school wants to leave. Those numbers are only going up from there. A school would probably pay that if invited by the SEC, but not for any other conference. Are you serious Clark? Your two flagship programs are on the way out the door. You lost Nebraska A&m and Missouri. If any of your other members gets a better offer, they will definitely take it. You're a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
Your TV rights' value will be going down. There's only two conferences that will be poaching from here on out. Enjoy your Mountain West invite. I like Leach, but his brand of football would be a big gamble in the Big 10.Leach is an overrated clown. He won’t be hired.
Good choices. Can you send that in an email to Alberts? Why would Schiano leave one basement-dwelling Big Ten program to go to another? Especially since he has very little pressure at Rutgers, and is much closer to fertile recruiting areas.
Trev's first calls should be to all the good Big 12 coaches, just to see if they want to leave the sinking ship. Campbell, Aranda, Gundy, Fickell, Klieman, Malzahn.
If they all say no, then I'd move on to the top Power 5 coordinators. Jim Leonhard, Jeff Lebby, Jeff Grimes, and Josh Gattis.
Leach is like 150-100 or so, at TTech and Wazzu and MSU.. having to play teams like Washington, USC, Stanford.I like Leach, but his brand of football would be a big gamble in the Big 10.

Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Bama, A&M, etc. I don’t know if he’d win championships here but he sure as hell would win games. He’s not in my top 3 but we could do a lot worse.
Hell, we have the worst coach of all time and we still have fools saying, nah not Leach he’s a clown. Are you effing kidding me?
We need ANYONE else but Frost.
Schiano has a more impressive resume than any of your suggestions. Why would Schiano leave one basement-dwelling Big Ten program to go to another? Especially since he has very little pressure at Rutgers, and is much closer to fertile recruiting areas.

Why would he leave one basement -dwelling team for another? Because our basement-dwelling team is Nebraska, where football is everything to fans, not Rutgers, where it's little more than an afterthought with the Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants and Devils to compete with.
It's Nebraska, which still means something to a coach like Schiano who remembers the nattys and conference championships TO was racking up when Greg was making his bones as a college coach.
It's Nebraska, which would double what Rutgers is paying him to bring him here.
I think Schiano would be a very good choice, but I wonder if Nebraska fans, like those of Tennesse a few years back, would not find him a "sexy" enough choice to support the move.
I
What do you guys think about the Urban Meyer talk?
I don't know if there is any interest on either side, and Meyer is the type of name that is going to brought up every time a major program goes shopping.
He has an amazing college track record, but he is a much MUCH bigger dick than Bo Pelini. And he might not want to stay longer than three years before he develops "heart trouble" again...

None of the coaches who are realistically available are much more than "meh" (even Fickell who hasn't excelled long enough to tell). There are some good things about them and some unimpressive things about them. None are going to be seen as home run hires. In my opinion, Schiano is not a home run, but all things considered, he's probably a solid double.Meh, Schiano has a career losing record, and had one good season at Rutgers back when they were in the old weak Big East Conference. He's yet to have a winning season at the Power 5 level.
He's making $4 million/year at Rutgers, you think we'd offer him $8 million/year? I think if we're willing to spend that much money, we could get a better coach than Schiano.
Could be. But at this point we’d take any good coach that can actually win some games. Hel I’d give Chadwell a shot and see if that works.Leach seems to have his ups and downs. Fans will grow weary of the lack of consistency.
WITHOUT question, the first person Meyer would bring on board is his former Florida/Ohio State strength coach.Like I said, here's to hoping Schiano is getting rumors to be Urb's coordinator![]()
I think he can get Meyer or almost anyone he wants. Huge salary, extensive resources, brand new facilities and we play in the weak *** Big 10 west. Meyer would kill it here and become a legend.
Malzahn would be an amazing hire!We could hire Malzahn and Frost could go back to UCF.
Meyer is already a legend. He'd only take the job if he wants the challenge. NU is not like Florida and Ohio State. Those schools are in fertile recruiting grounds. Nebraska is like the desert. It would be cool to watch him resurrect NU.I think he can get Meyer or almost anyone he wants. Huge salary, extensive resources, brand new facilities and we play in the weak *** Big 10 west. Amazing for you Iowa fans.Malzahn would be an amazing hire!

Not good enough.Malzahn would be an amazing hire!
He's a nutjob.Folks, it's been a rough decade. We've been wandering a corn maze of our own making ever since we fired Solich, and it's time for us to make our great escape (RIP Steve McQueen). When you're caught in a labyrinth this long it's not enough to simply keep zigging or zagging, taking this left turn or this right, you have to cut straight through the maize walls that have capriciously held you captive. You have to Husk.
There's a candidate out there that no one is mentioning, who has ties to the Midwest but isn't blinded by Big Red tinted glasses, who runs an innovative offense, who's won at both the G5 and P5 level, who coaches players above their recruiting ranking, who has no ego, who's proven he can win tight games, and who won't break the bank.
DANA HOLGORSEN
I'm currently gathering the data to bolster my (strong) qualitative case with undeniable quantitative evidence, and will be posting it in the coming days. Until then, rewatch that Houston-UTSA game and imagine a different red colored team winning in triple OT.
Husk out.
I would be happy with hiring Herman but only if we struck out on Meyer, and not for money reasons. I would also consider paying Luke Fickell well.No problem here, I'm sure I posted some numbers that I didn't research ahead of time.
I'm not advocating for Herman, although, I do think he's a real good coach. When you're the OC/QB coach for Meyer at OSU and can elevate their #3 QB into the starting role against Bama and win the national title, that shows me something. Outside of Ezekiel and the rest of the all-star offensive talent.
Herman did a great job at U of Houston (22-4) in two years, and I just feel Texas is next level higher than NU in regards to expectations in football. They'll dump a coach in 2-3-4 years no problem, regardless of the buyout, cause they aren't afraid of paying huge money if they get the right guy.
Texas wants the same thing us Husker fans do. To be not relevant, but elite. They have the population base to make it happen a lot faster than us, but joining the SEC is gonna an eye opener for them. They get the first taste of it when they play Bama in a few weeks.
Have a good one.
He's a visionary. Mike Riley was a conventional guy who got along with everyone. Didn't do much for us on the field. We need a guy with a little mercury under his cap if you know what I mean. He's a nutjob.
