someone that knows how to run and offense and recruit in the transfer portal
Yes that is what is needed but Pikiell will be back next season. There does need to be changes in the coaching staff. The half court offense stinks and the defense allows far too many easy baskets.

Pike gets this year and next year. No AD is going to fire him right away- nor should they. If we don't make the tournament this year or next, Pike is in trouble. Next year, I hope the new AD forces Pike to change up his staff. There are clearly coaching and recruiting issues. I do wonder if Pike sees the writing on the wall and starts looking for an off ramp. I want Pike and Rutgers to succeed, but ever since the play in game in Dayton, it's felt to me like we are on the downhill side of his tenure.

We’re not getting a home run hire so I’d go with a tactician: Mitch Henderson.
Compared to Pike almost anyone is a home run hire. There are 100 guys out there. Maybe a very successful guy at a lower level .Throw out recruiting and the game is the same at every level. Maybe look at an assistant at a program like Wisconsin, or MSU, or head coaches looking for more money - Henderson, Holloway. The options are endless. Can we do this. I have my doubts. No president, No AD, and we look to outside agencies to do our hiring. The school is basically run like s&%t.

He's got to go the day after the season ends.

We have no president and no AD. Dumpster fire. Pike isn’t going anywhere unless he quits. In addition to his own coaching deficiencies, he’s surrounded himself with subpar assistants. I think Karl Hobbs was a real loss
Yes. Hobbs!

Wary about Henderson, tremendous success at Princeton but his model is untenable at a non Ivy/service academy. Gerlufsen at SF is my dream, but no local connection and a ton of suitors I’d imagine
Yeah it’s not just about coaching. It’s more about working the portal with plug-and-play players.

I’m just trying to figure out when it went south for Pike. I feel like he didn’t correct some of his coaching philosophy flaws and continued to double down on them. Honestly, shocked
It started going south for him the day his assistant who had been with him for years left for Fairfield. Not sure which was worse - him leaving or Knight taking over.

What "off ramp" is going to pay him the 24million he is guaranteed. He won't leave that money on the table.

Hate to break it to you but the portal in basketball directly equal $$$. So unless our crown jewel on the football side is giving up any money we are never going to have portal success.
