Does it really matter. If Pitino could barely beat us who else can. The ones who can have a chance are entrenched at other schools

I could see little Mick Cronin going back there to be HC. Hates UK and would take the job unless the hole is deeper than I think it will be.

They are looking at interim coach for now so who knows who will be the next "permanent" coach at UL. Going to be awhile before they ever matter again in college basketball anyway so it will be tough to get a high caliber coach to go there. Sounds like a great landing spot for Crean, doesn't it?

Mick won't leave Cincinnati until his kid is grown up, if ever. I know he turned down an opportunity for the Florida job.

I hope former Wildcats who played for Rick would not bite. They're not going to get an established D1 head coach. Cigar Man? Ford, Pelphey, Woods, Mc Carty, Mark Pope?

That may be true, but what does the Florida job have to do with the Louisville job? One is roughly 800 miles away, and one is like 75. Also, the UofL job is way better than the Florida job.

An adult that can ride this out for a couple years. Some small school / retired guy that would appreciate the chance to coach there. If Louisville is lucky, is like Rich Brooks who not only weathered the sanctions but built a winning program. At worse, Kim Anderson who at least doesn't embarrass you more so.

Laugh, but Crean really would be a good interim choice. Willard. Thad Motta. Mark Gottfried. That's the calibre coach they can get today. In two years, they can reach for better.

I'd be good with Crean. He's mockworthy, quirky, hotheaded plus we'll be beating the ever loving snot out of his team.

Why would Cronin leave Cinci for a job thats pretty much the same thing in a more difficult conference, thats going through a nuclear fallout?
Its a sidestep job.

Who would want to go there? They're going through 2 major scandals. There's no telling what will happen to UL. No coach in their right mind would take the UL job right now.

One ul rivals fan said "I have a crazy idea, what if we fire Rick and then hire him back. Noone is better at bringing programs back from being down then him". Two posters even agreed with him. How can anyone be so delusional. Oh well it's all for our comedic benefit
