You have to get the money somewhere. Texas no income tax but property taxes are 225% of what it is here. Alabama taxes are double our property taxes. Pennsylvania is 3 times ours so pick your poison. I would prefer a 9% sales tax, no income tax. All the people getting paid cash would have to contribute that way.

I’ve seen some property tax bills in Austin suburbs. They are astounding.

Tennessee has mountains and pretty country. And high property taxes.

Texas has oil and high property taxes.

Florida has the beaches and water. And death tax.

What does Missouri have? You have to offset that state tax somewhere.

Big cities will always have some growth so there’s that, but I don’t see where the no state tax truly drives growth unless there are other calling cards.

Huge difference between letting people vote and letting their reps vote. If it were the same we wouldn’t have elected officials.

If you let people choose they would vote down a federal Income tax. Congress isn’t doing much better but you can’t let people decide this.

TN actually did allow a vote on income tax. People voted to keep the status quo. But the state found other ways to levy taxes in order to collect revenue.

$9 billion shortfall? I would pump the brakes on believing any economic projections that the government puts out on the state level. They're always optimistic and I know of precisely no one who sees Missouri as a retirement destination.

I enjoyed the Branson area. Southern Missouri seems like the best area, I guess due to the Ozarks. I could easily see myself living there. Maybe they were long overdue some tax cuts.

Whenever a state announces no income taxes, you know they're going to make it up on the back end somewhere. His property taxes are going to go higher from here and they'll probably introduce an excise tax that will help cover the lack of income tax.

They mentioned property taxes would be cut as well. Not sure how much though.
