I'm going to be bemused if he had Covid, but frankly I think it was pneumonia in connection with an untreated severe respiratory inflection.

Covid is an easy test in theory. He did severely gash his leg earlier this year changing a smoke detector battery (slipped and fell no doubt because it was the middle of the night). Regardless, very sad and the unrelenting NASCAR schedule doesn't allow for proper recovery given appearances and simulator time also demanding large chunks of time.
