Arizona’s population has grown by 580 percent yet its water usage has dropped. That is fantastic water management - something fake experts like you said just last week was the problem - too many people. Wrong. Go educate yourself. Unlike you, I don’t “trust the experts” - especially self proclaimed water experts whose profession is insurance salesman

Yet the use is still unsustainable. Something even this salesman understands.

I love that you are so soft and unstable that you always feel the need to insult people. Like a little boy throwing a temper tantrum.

I guess you might stop talking about the vaccine, since you aren’t an expert. Just kidding. If I talk about water for the next 5 years we will be similar.

Yes, we need unique solutions in different parts of the country. Maybe incentives. Otherwise farms will continue to close, and prices will continue to go up.
Water pricing is a decent incentive. My largest water bill here was $3200 in a month. It will cost me roughly $40k for a rainwater capture plus maintenance expense. It may never pay for itself, but could depending on drought conditions, remedies, property values, etc.

Ya, wealthy people have no problem with higher prices. Most people don’t have 40k for rainwater capture. Good for you though!

Sounds like you use a ton of water. Significantly more than your capture system will ever collect. I do give you credit for doing something, but I’d also recommend cutting back a bit. Not sure where you live, so it might not be as big of a concern.

Being able to criticize from both positions is certainly beneficial.

From Mike:

I can't believe he wants to wipe out the Iranian civilization.

Also from Mike:

I can't believe he called it off!

I am paraphrasing, but pretty much your argument with yourself. Kudos.
Not sure where you got "I can't believe he called it off!". If I said that it would have been dripping with sarcasm. I mean, he's only extended the ultimatum 6 times now? Or is it 7? I can't even keep up at this point. But yes, he's stable and I'm all over the place. LOL

Perhaps Trump doesn’t actually like war and every time he gives an ultimatum he expects reasonable leadership to negotiate in good faith. Trump escalated until they got enough of a serious proposal. The Art of the Deal. You make a lot of excuses for your willful obtusiveness.

Oh, poor Squishy. I was 100 percent correct about the vaccine. My instincts told me they shouldn't be mandating a life saving jab! Further, when they offer me a free burger, a lottery entry, and restrict my freedom if I DON'T take it - well, even a bad salesman should be smart enough to not take that crap. Yet, you did!! I have zero regrets for standing up to widespread tyranny and am truly blessed that I never took it. You wish you were a pure blood too.

As for water, Arizona has an allocation going back a hundred plus years and despite 6x population growth, they continue to use less water than 70 plus years ago. That is called fantastic water management. You are 100 percent obsessed with the great state of Arizona. How are the other Colorado river users doing in comparison (NV, UT, CO, CA)? You are the self-proclaimed expert, how are they doing in comparison to the 50s? Obviously, when there is a shortfall, agreements need to be made. Yet, these Democrat governors (plus Utah) can't reach an agreement.

Where did LA get the water to facilitate its mammoth growth? You likely don't have a clue.

Why did California water experts think it was a good idea to flush trillions of gallons of freshwater into the Pacific? You trust the experts. I don't - I think their idiots.....kind of like....

Mike - you are so close. Trump's genius is he appears unstable and unhinged. And your Democrats aid his negotiating efforts by yelling - "THAT IS A WAR CRIME" (even as Ukraine takes the identical action). The element of uncertainty is the secret sauce to his threats having merit. His M.O. hasn't changed in 35 plus years and it works. Next time you think he is bluffing, go in big on the market before the deadline. There is a reason Jeff is not posting today - yet another plus 1000 point gain on the DOW under Trump.

Oh yeah, I'm all over those policies because of this dumb *** war. Your deductive reasoning is incredible. It seems PJ Fleck got hit with an oar. Keep rowing the boat!
Are you the poster with no children ?

I have 3 Sons, 10 Grandchildren and too many cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives to count.

I have the hope that as a result of the "Carry a Big Stick" policy of President Trump, none of them will have to find themselves inhaling radioactive dust from an Iranian nuclear explosion !

Like Mad Dog is now facing from 9/11 cancers and fighting the World Trade Center Compensation Funds.

@X22Report is not a credible source. Independent media bias and fact-checking organizations rate it as highly unreliable and in the conspiracy-pseudoscience category:
  • Media Bias Fact Check labels it a "strong Conspiracy and pseudoscience website with a far-right bias that promotes unproven claims."
  • Ad Fontes Media gives it an "Unreliable, Inaccurate" reliability score and "Most Extreme Right" bias.
It routinely promotes QAnon mythology (e.g., "Trust the Plan," "The Storm," "Great Awakening," "Patriots in Control," direct Q-drop references) while framing news as part of a secret battle against the "Deep State." Many of its core predictions (mass arrests, dramatic reckonings) have repeatedly failed to materialize.
The account and its host were deplatformed from YouTube, Spotify, and other sites in 2020 for spreading QAnon and related misinformation, though it remains active on X, Rumble, and its own site. Its own disclaimer admits content is "one man’s opinion" for "information purposes only" and advises consulting professionals for decisions. In summary, it functions more as conspiracy entertainment/propaganda than as reliable journalism or analysis. For factual information, stick to mainstream news outlets with transparent sourcing and editorial standards.
CNN guy has President Trump poll with 100 % approvals from MAGA for Iranian police action.

Simple solution, desalinization plant on Pacific Ocean use for Callie water usages.

No more water into Callie from Ariz needed.

No, I congratulated him for doing something.

I grew up in a 40k house and now live in one worth almost a million. I’ve always appreciated people that take chances. I appreciate the opinions of people on this site. But I recognize people living well beyond their needs. 4 houses and a 3k water bill? Probably well beyond their needs.

I agree with you on water. We live in an arid/semi-arid region yet one poster keeps saying the solution to water shortages is to shut down Arizona. Here is the rainfall for some representative locations (for comparison, Champain IL is about 40 inches):
LocationAnnual Rainfall
Imperial Valley CA~2.5–3.5 in
Las Vegas ~4–5 in
Phoenix ~7–8 in
Albuquerque ~9–10 in
Denver ~14–15 in

Water rights were established years ago and it will be a messy legal wrangling with AZ getting hit pretty hard when it comes to cuts. The legal priority at the moment is Indian claims have highest priority, early users like California 2nd, and all later users 3rd. So growing alfalfa is protected as long as they started using Colorado river water early enough.

Lake Mead is getting low so something needs to be done but the "solution" is going to be to rely on when people started using the water, not what they are using it for. So AZ is going to get hit but the silver lining is maybe we get fewer Californians moving here!

ps AZ is going to be OK. We have the Salt River project of dams and reservoirs in Eastern/Northern AZ that supplies about 1MAF of water to central AZ. We are conserving water as TJ said and are stopping new developments without proven 100 year water supplies. Anyone who has been to Israel has been to AZ. It is arid but lots of people want to live here.

I exaggerate sometimes. I don’t think we should shut down water to Arizona, but see further restrictions coming. I don’t think we should continue to grow the population in the desert, and that includes both Colorado and Arizona.

Wrong. He tried to bully them. They didn't flinch, so now he says that stupid 10 point plan that Iran put on the table days ago is a good starting point. We are in a worse position than when we started.

An interesting tidbit are the tribal (Indian) rights. The Gila River Tribe near Phoenix, for example, has rights to 0.7MAF (about 5% of the 14MAF produced by the Colorado these days). There are 14,000 members so they can't use it all. They currently lease some of those rights to Phoenix and probably can lease more.

So when the cuts come, the Indians are largely immune because they have the most senior water rights. Overall the Indians have 20-25% of the Colorado river water rights across the basin and some are still disputing the allocations and looking for more.
