I meant after UNL. Instead of chadron. But maybe uno didnt have a football team then so that would make sense.
Ah gotcha. Yeah, not sure exactly why Eddie Ridder went to Chadron over somewhere else at that level, but UNO no longer had a program when he left UNL.

It really does look like we’ve loaded up on some quality walkons last 3 years. That can really help behind the scenes making the entire team better, in addition to the handful who may be able to compete on the 2-3 deep.
From my view, I think the goal of the walk-on program is to produce a couple starters who beat out quality scholarship players and go on to the NFL. This is what Wisconsin has done and what Nebraska used to do.

PAL League Jr High?

I almost joined MM's staff a few years back but ended up at taking a different coaching gig.

The Ridder guy that was Principal/President or whatever was a moron.
Yep. I was at pal this past year but have a few different offers im mulling over. Ya Ridder was not a great fit for where the school wanted to go. New admin is much better.

New admin is amazing, you guys are lucky. Peters is a stud.

Good for you and the PAL, it is a great league with some really good coaches that are there for the right reasons.

Walk-ons also give the coaches enough bodies to have three stations going at one time. That means guys on the second and third string are getting valuable live reps in practice, rather than standing around holding their helmets. The walk-ons tend to be hungry to prove themselves, and they love knocking some hotshot scholarship guy on his butt. That makes everybody work harder.

And let's face it: some small-town guys just don't get the 24/7/365 football like a big-city guy from a warm climate. Call them late bloomers or whatever, but once they are in a real weight program, and are able to watch film and learn the game, they just may turn out to be every bit as good as the guy from the sun belt.

Four OL one DL and one who is listed for either side is a good start. Drop in six LB along with three kickers and a couple of DBs. Nice. An athlete, TE and QB looks like a solid spread of talent walking on.

Questions
How many additional guys are still looking to walk on?
How does the walk on class compare with others in the conference?
The way I understand it once classes start come next fall, there is no limit to the number of kids on the football team. Yes, only 85 scolarship guys, but walk ons the sky is the limit. The problem comes down to having enough staff to manage everyone. Hence why we don't see 200 player football programs. I want to say in the TO days we averaged that 20-30 walk on range. I am guessing Frost wants to keep around those numbers as well.

At one point Osborne had a total of 200 kids on the program

Articles I’ve read indicate that 150 would be the goal, facilities we have currently (locker room primarily) is the limiting factor .

My thought is as long as we have the facilities and staff to handle it. Might as well get the max kids in we can. Filter them in and out. We are bound to find some diamonds

I think Bo's nephew came in at about 5-11 225 and left at about 5-11, 225 +50 lbs of beer belly. He got tossed around like a rag doll by defenses. Worst case of nepotism I've ever seen in college football.
Oh big time nepotism. To add insult to injury we had Ryne Reeves behind him too who I believe was a 4 star kid coming out of Crete and had prototype size.

Bring in those that you can. If they decide it isn’t for them but want to keep playing help find them a place. Would build great relationships with coaches in HS and the smaller schools where the players end up.
