Four OL one DL and one who is listed for either side is a good start. Drop in six LB along with three kickers and a couple of DBs. Nice. An athlete, TE and QB looks like a solid spread of talent walking on.

Questions
How many additional guys are still looking to walk on?
How does the walk on class compare with others in the conference?

Nebraska currently sits with the #1 ranked Walk On class in the country.

Actually I have no idea, but I’d like to think it’s true. :)

I'd wager there is a few guys that will be starters on that list (at some point) as well as a lot of contributors (backups/special teams). Can't overstate the walk-on effect on a team. Love seeing the enthusiasm they are seeing with Frost and company, get on board!

I have to think we are getting close to our limit given space and Title IX limitations, but we'll likely see some of the earlier walk-ons transfer as well if they can't see a path to contributing.

Only other teams that really get productivity from walk-ons consistently are Wisconsin and to a lesser extent Iowa, and I don't think they have these kinds of classes

Click to see the full list.

Another nice athlete and kid who can project to being better. 6-2, 225, 4.6 40 (hand timed I'm guessing - he ran a 7.2 60 which is likely closer to 4.8, but he's run an 11.71 100 meters in track), 4.35 shuttle, 34" vertical.

53 second 400 meters, 46'5" shot put as well. Nice well-rounded athlete who has room to grow in the program, IMO

I was thinking no more along lines to total numbers of walk one and not necessarily ranking but for the stats geeks man would be cool if someone had the time on their hands to do.

Do we at least lead the nation in number of commits named Garrett?

I'm glad we're pulling in lots of kids like this. Losing in-state talent to programs like Wyoming, UofOhio and the Dakotas has not helped Nebraska lately.

Its been ages since Mount Michael has had a kid on the roster. Saw him play several times last year he went sideline to sideline for MM. Big frame that he can add plenty of weight too. Think he will fit well at either Buck or Mike and could get some PT 3 or 4 years down the line.
Any since Jamrog? I’m not aware of one.

My son played out there. That is a freaky place. My ex talked me into putting him in out there.

What excites me most about this coaching staff in terms of recruiting is that, if we do have walk ons on the 2 deep roster it will be earned, not because of holes in the roster. In the last several years walk ons who were starting were not a good thing. Even last year with Bunch was a bit problematic. But moving forward, any walk on starter will have risen through the ranks.

At some point I want to see a few kids with these measurables and the bones to do it, grow in to an offensive center..... 6-2 to 6-3 running a 4.8 that grows up to 285-290 and keeps that quickness. Warren Sapp played QB in high school IF I remember correctly. I don't think Spencer Long was all that much heavier than that in high school.

Agree that I like seeing some of these kids put on weight and do what Long did (his brother was a nice player for us also). I think he was around 250 when he got here and ended up playing by his RS Sophomore year.

Cam Jurgens is that kind of guy but taller, 6-3/6-4, 240 or so when he was in HS, and a great athlete for his size/build, with the ability to add weight. Hopefully the knee injury doesn't set him back too much and he can put on weight this winter and play this spring. I'd love to see him at that 285-290 level this spring, but we have to be a bit patient as he had a lot of weight to gain.

I see a ILB/Strong side LB with Hustedt because of his height and frame, but we'll see what Ellis/Duval do with him. At least I have confidence in those 2 getting the most out of these walk-ons (and Scholarship guys)!

Oh man...Were you being punished or something? I kid I kid, MM finally had some okay teams the last few years. But man, few years ago we beat them 70-7 and I think 77-7? I can't remember the scores. I feel bad that JB left them as their HC...he was a good coach.

Post of the day. Walk-ons getting playing time used to be a big deal because they had beaten out quality, scholarship kids (plus all the other walk-ons) to get there. Not because we were on some self-imposed scholarship restriction where we couldn't get and keep 85 kids on the roster who were worth a P5 scholarship.

I'm an alum, I try to get out there for at least a game or 2 a year. The new guy they have is every bit as good. The admin has made it a priority to be competitive in all sports and it has started to show. The Elkhorns and Gretna moving to A helped MM football tremendously, 3 guaranteed losses are off the schedule. I know they really like the new HC out there and he recruits the junior high schools harder than anybody, I coach Jr high and there was no bigger recruiting presence than MM football.

I am good friends with the current MM coach, he will be successful there.

Gretna, you have admit, it's an eery campus. My ex and I paid 10k a year for by boy to go there. Those monks are weird, and that's coming from someone like me..

I think the campus is beautiful, but I wouldn't send my kids to an all boys school (or an all girls school) and I not a boarding school. To each their own, but not the direction we will go.

I think Ed Ridder was on the roster for a spring ball and then transferred out to D2 after that around 2012.
Correct on Eddie Ridder, spent two seasons on campus then transferred to Chadron State I believe.
I think Andy Wingender is the last Mount Michael player to spend his entire college playing career at Nebraska.

Not sure if there were any between Jamrog in the mid-/late-80s and Wingender in the early-2000s.

Gretna and the Elkhorn schools moving up to Class A certainly allowed Mount Michael to play teams a lot closer in size last season (both in student population/depth and physique). Those programs are just machines when they are in Class B. MM is losing a lot of production between Hustedt and Sid deMayo, plus a few good linemen. Next season will be an adventure, but hopefully not any 60+ point thrashings. Having played as a freshman on a team that had very few upperclassmen and lost once 88-0, those games (and seasons) are not very fun.

PAL League Jr High?

I almost joined MM's staff a few years back but ended up at taking a different coaching gig.

The Ridder guy that was Principal/President or whatever was a moron.

MM has certainly put a lot of successful men out in the world.
But agree to each their own.

Well you might be right...I do know that I would teach them to not judge a book by its posts on a husker message board. But that is just me.

You originally said good, Ill go with that.
You have no morals. This is obvious. If you dont believe what you post, then youre a liar.
I stand by everything I said and I think you need to discern your job. You wont of course.
I wouldnt care if you werent teaching kids. But you are, and I doubt parents and taxpayers would agree with your beliefs.
Ive hijacked this thread enough, would have sent in a private message but dont have that option. Couldnt hold my tongue any longer.

No it is fine, I appreciate your input. I got two questions though, if you were holding your tongue, was it tough to type? And two, is your ' button broken on your keyboard?
